List your Junior Golf Tour marketing shenanigans

Recommended Posts

I signed my kid up for an HJGT event in Monterey at the beginning of November. Note: We have never played an HJGT event before. And, of course, we haven't competed in the one we signed up for yet.

Today, I get this email from HJGT:

_"Congratulations on qualifying for the 2019 Tournament of Champions (Boys U10/Girls U13) & Boys 11-13 National Championship at Walt Disney World - Palms (Lake Buena Vista, FL) on 12/7/2019. Due to your performance over the past 2 years on tour you have earned an invitation. We are excited for you to join the 800+ juniors embarking on Orlando for our largest and most exclusive event of the year! This event is filling up fast and will sell out, so don't hesitate, sign up today!"_

LMAO!! Feel free to share yours!!

It's no fun when the rabbit's got the gun.

Wait until they start texting you. Mine hasn't even played in a Hurricane this year and I get at least one text a day.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

I think hurricane is the worst offender.

I was talking to my golf pro and he said that hurricane reached out to him for a tournament. He actually thought they were a non profit tour.I told him they better be paying full rack for a round because there super expensive. He was surprised how much they charged for tournaments. So there making a few hundred a kid if they can sucker in a course.

That's probably why you ignore half of my texts. LOL. At least mine have some entertainment value. #MuniLife

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

> I was tempted to sign up for the Monterey tournament given the course and low price point, but looks like there are only about 9 players in the 10U division. I'll hold out on HJGT until I hear back from some buddies who jumped ship from USKids.

You will not hear me say this much but US Kids is by far better then HJGT. This is even more so for younger kids.

The only reason i entered my kids into HJGT is because they have tons of tournaments and sometimes you have tournaments canceled or they fit well in a schedule you have. They also sometimes play good courses. Competition is a hit or miss.

Well, I hope the HJGT event at Monterey is a good one. It was $255 to play the USKG Monterey Regional for 2x9-holes and $175 to play the HJGT Monterey for 2x18-holes. USKG for my 8YO would have been at Del Monte course. HJGT is at Bayonet & Blackhorse.

Does HJGT have any tee gifts? I don't need any yellow USKG golf balls or hats. Maybe the tee gifts will be the deciding factor...haha.

Looks like it's cheaper in California then elsewhere $175 is cheaper then what I normally see HGJT charge Most of them are above $250 a tournament. Didn't join them as a member but haven't felt the need to really because the price seems a little high for just a regular monthly tournament and in many cases the field for girls is so small it doesn't have enough for JGS rankings. But honestly $175 for 36 holes is not too bad of a deal if you get decent competition. I would defiantly do that.
