True Temper Unveils New Tour Concept Program

Tour Products Built By Top Clubfitters

Memphis , TN … In response to surging demand for its premium tour-only products, True Temper introduces the new “Tour Concept” program. Essentially the program is designed to quickly move tour-proven golf shafts from the hands of the top pros on tour into the bags of the most discriminating golfers. These tour-proven shafts are only available via custom fitting at a Tour Concept authorized club builder, some of the finest in North America .

As part of the program, the Tour Concept website (http://www.tttourconcept.com) features a shop locator, a state-by-state listing of participating club builders. In addition, the site features press releases, product photography, online fitting resources, and product information. Initially, the Tour Concept program features the innovative Tour Concept Iron series, however additional products will be added on a regular basis.

The Tour Concept Irons have been in use on tour for two years, collecting several wins in the hands of some of game’s top golfers. These innovative new shafts are divided into three distinct categories – long irons (2-4), mid irons (5-7) and short irons (8-PW) – each featuring varying tip flexibility. Tour Concept’s state-of-the art design produces long irons that get in the air easily, mid irons that offer a moderate, piercing trajectory and short irons that feature a flat, controlled ball flight for optimal accuracy. In addition to its unique playing characteristics, the shaft features a cutting-edge, glare-reducing coating unlike anything available in the steel shaft category today

True Temper iron shafts continue to dominate all professional tours averaging over 65 percent usage on the PGA Tour and 75 percent usage on the Champions and Nationwide tours each week. They also win more tournaments each year than all other iron shafts combined. True Temper Sports is the leading manufacturer of golf shafts in the world and is consistently the number one shaft on all professional tours globally. The Company markets a complete line of shafts under the True Temper and Grafalloy shaft brands, and sells these brands in over thirty countries throughout the world. True Temper Sports employs over 700 people in ten facilities located in the United States , Europe , Japan , China and Australia .

I absolutely love this shaft. The biggest benefit I found by comparing it side-by-side with x100's vs TC X1 was the accuracy. Long irons did climb a bit higher as expected. Overall I just thought the performance was superior to the DG DGSL. They also have more feel than the PX's in my opinion.

The thing I like is the higher long iron flight and softer feel vs the DGs300. I can't tell if they play softer but I would say for sure they are not any more firm than the DGs. I get more carry on the long irons and more spin on short irons and all the clubs feel super smooth and I'm more accurate than when I had the DGs.

I love em like a pig loves corn :friends:

Yeah, love everything about these except the green tint...but oh well. should have ordered the chrome tint...the green tint doesn't bother me, but all the uninformed questions about why i'm hitting graphite shafts bothers me...but that's just personal annoyance. But moving past the superficial, these shafts are really, really nice. I picked up a half club in length over my rifle flighted's, with all other things being equal. My dispersion also got quite a bit tighter as well. Can't argue about a distance gain and an accuracy gain...well, except for I've had to add a gap wedge and pull the two iron, which, I guess isn't a bad thing. Pretty pricey, but sweet.

Really good shafts. Flighted to give higher loft to your long irons and lower trajectory to your short irons. The new satin version looks good and feels the same. Slightly heavier than DG but have a less harsh feel.

Simply the best.

Anyone have any thoughts on why TT's top of the line shaft is played by so few tour players? For what the price tag is on these things, one would be inclined to believe the marketing machine that tells us this the TT premier shaft.

If you take a look at TT's website and look at the Darrell surveys, the majority of guys seem to still be using the DG's. Thoughts/Opinions/Facts....?

Tour Concept S-3 shafts installed in MP-32 are simply divine. I've hit my best iron shots barnone playing these shafts for just 2 rounds. A smooth, controlled swing produces the best results. The sound, feel and weight of the shaft are what make the difference. Feedback is good without the harshness of TTDG and with more feel than Black Gold or Nippon 950. The price tag is steep, but Tour Concept is the best investment I've made to date.

I've had these (green x1's) in my Bridge. cb's for about

a month now. Very smooth. I have no complaints with them.

Except for one little whine.

I've played Dynamic Gold in just about every set of

irons i've had in the past 10 years. I don't have the specs

right in front of me, but the BUTT size on the TC shafts seem

to be a little bigger. Kind of like putting 3 wraps of tape on the

DG's and then regripping them.

Like I said, "one little whine".

Anyways, i've heard that these might go a little higher. I

didn't really notice that, i'm a high ball hitter anyway.

Right now i'm hitting my irons outstanding. Now whether

this is contributed to the TC's or my new Bridgestone cb's,

I don't know.

I do know one thing. The set up I have right now in my irons

is the BEST combo (heads and shafts), that I

think i've ever had. (and I played mp-30's for over 5 years)

They are worth trying out. ;)

i haven't seen the satin finished TC's on ebay in a long time. The black golds have lots of feel, it's hard to believe that the TCs have that much more feel to justify the extra costs.

IMHO, they do and are worth every penny and more. If you get the right flex TCs make an average head good and a good head exceptional. Not just better than any other iron shaft I have played but a lot better.

They give you the impression that every last bit of energy stored in the swing is released into the ball at impact. Totally controlled, powerful and smooth.

Well, I have been trying them for the past couple of days and I will say they are very impressive.....so far. The X1's seem very comparable to my usual tried and true X100's. Distance seems just a touch longer than the X100's and yet I have not had problems with 1/2 & 3/4 shots getting away from me. Early days yet, but so far they are very nice.

I've played and enjoyed TC shafts since they came out. They're just straighter than DG for me + better range of shot making possibilities.

A couple more advantages are:

(1) Ability to hard and soft-step the shafts to dial in the flex that you like best. For instance, X1 soft-stepped 1X flexes like the old DG S-500---that according to TT Tech Dept.

(2) TC shafts are terrific in hybrids---creating higher trajectories, more spin, and the same playing characteristics as your irons. The hybrids are iron replacements after all. Of particular value is the increased ability to play low recovery shots, punched shots, and chips with the hybrid/TC combo---fabulous!

I do think that TC shafts take a short time to get used to. I think the timing required is just slightly different than DG. Particularly with the longer shafts you've got to deliver enough of a descending blow to accomodate the slightly faster tip action of the TCs.

I've played the green and satin sheath models but now have acquired a rare Tour Issued chrome set that I am using. They'll go into a new set of MacGregor PRO-M blades when they arrive!

One of the best steel shafts ever produced (Nippon 1150's as well!). FYI; I do not believe that they produce the satin models any longer; simply standard shinny finish. I say remove the clear coat from the old matte finish and bring it back!!
