Don't switch guys! It's all a ploy. We have seen this movie before!

Make a great product, folks sing it's praises, then start churning technology improvements. In 6 months it will be Penta with MWT. Then Penta with BCT (Ball Control Technology). Six months later Penta with MWT and BCT. Then six months later.....

Nice sarcasm. The Penta is so similar tot he Pro V1x and the tp red LDP for me but has more spin with irons and slightly more spin with wedge shots. Also feels a hair softer off the putter

I ain't buying into it. Cuz you KNOW that they're already working on the hepta, hexa, octa and deca balls. what are the extra pieces for NOW? Hmm....layer 6 for lack of beer carts, layer 7 for temperatures between 78 and 79.2, layer 8, 9 and 10 all work inconjunction to prove that the owner of the ball is truly an indiot for subscribing to the Taylor Made ball ofthe month club.

Not sure why people seem so concerned with how and when TM decides to [s]change[/s] improve their product line. A dozen balls is a dozen balls. If you feel that the Penta ball will hamper your game versus a newer ball...... well maybe golf isn't for you!

With that said, is there any truth that TM will be updating the Penta ball already?

No they arent updating the ball already but you know they are working on it as with every other company. Its not like R&D stops after something new comes out. And I do not understand this ball of the month with Taylormade as they have a two year cycle with their golf balls just like everyone else

Well, if Taylormade really updates the Penta soon or puts in play 10 different balls in a year as some guys here state, then prices will drop down and the on one who will benefit from such is the customer, .i. us.

I don't see a problem in releasing product after product, I actually think its great since more people can afford "almost new technology" at better prices then...

I chose the V1 as I presumed it included the V1x which has been great for me. The V1 is not as good as the Penta for me. I'm actually debating the i(s) over the V1x. The Penta's layers adjusting to SS formulae is a great idea if it works, but it didn't seem to produce the performance I was looking for.

I'm a single digit hcp who's been playing the Pro V1 and V1x for the past two years. There was so much buzz behind the Penta that I couldn't help but try them out. It only took one round to convince me to switch. Distance was amazing (equal to, or better than the V1x), spin, control and feel surpassed that of the V1 - I prefer the soft feel of a ball being struck. TM has a winner on their hands, I just don't know how they'll improve from this ball, but you know they will.

As for the folks making jokes about TM, it's getting old. If you have the $$ or connection to game their latest products...go for it. Every other manufacturer comes out with a new line of products every year, TM does it every six months...and their successful because of a great marketing team.

I have been gaming the same TM Rescue TP hybrids (3 & 4) from 2007, none of their new products in this category have come close to how these clubs have performed. The other TM product I've used is the R9 driver.

Stay away from Cally i(s)...you WILL lose distance! I used the i(s) on the back 9 and lost at least 20-25yds from the tee! In addition, the "s" is supposed to stand for "soft" - not the case. As it has been for every Callaway ball, these still felt like rocks!

I'm trying to save you $$, frustration and time! Good luck!

Penta is quickly growing on me.. feels great off the putter.. a little longer for me off the driver and irons.. ProV1 is still a little better around the green but not by much.
