Just wondering what everyone think of the Razr X Tour hybrids? I have not hit them yet but I can get a steal of a deal on them. Any love out there for these boys?

I have the 2 and 3 tour versions in play. They fly a bit high, but a piercing flight. Very forgiveable across the face. If you want workability, these will do that.

Have had them in my bag since last season...and they are staying there for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the insight, I'm going to pull the trigger on the 3/4 hybrids. I can toy with them to figure out where they will fit in. I'm looking forward to giving them a smack!

I have the 18 degree version (described as a 2 iron replacement) and it is clearly the best weapon as a hybrid I have used. I tried four or five other hybrids before finally finding this one and it is staying in my bag. I can hit it low and penetrating or high and softer, and can work the ball either way with it -- but not as much as a 2 or 3 iron. The feel is solid and you know the sweet spot. My big complaint with some other hybrids is they are hard to flight with a penetrating trajectory. Many hybrids seemed designed to optimize getting the ball up for slower speed swingers. The Razr X seem a lot more suited to an attacking shot -- no balloons.

I own the 3 and 4, but find I only need the 4, because the gap between the 3h and the 5-wood does not justify getting rid of a wedge. They are great clubs, very forgiving and excellent distance. The deals available on them make it hard to not get, or at least consider them. I got mine from Cally Preowned on a one day two-for-one sale, like new condition.

These are, at least in my opinion, one of the most under rated clubs going. They give a very nice low to mid flight, you can work them to your heart's content, they are so long that you can't hit them out of the rough but are long enough to be pretty forgiving. One thing I have noticed thought is that the function better on misses towards the heel rather then the toe in terms of getting the most distance out of the miss hit.

I think Callaway nailed it pretty well with these actually. If your someone who wants more forgiveness as well, the non Tour versions of these are just point and shoot.

My 18 degree 2 iron replacement has a great stock shaft. I play an X in my driver, but this one is a 75 gram low torque Stiff and it fits the club perfectly. It really is the first hybrid I would not want to be without, or if I was then I would replace it with the same model. When you go after the ball, I absolutely dislike a hybrid that launches the ball to super heights so that the wind really effects the shot. That is my beef with most hybrids. I want a shot that penetrates with a flatter top trajectory, and this one does it even with a shaft one step weaker than my driver shaft. It is still high enough to stop on shots into the green. I would not change the shaft I have that came with the club from Callaway. It is a Callaway Low Torque Mid Kick H75G shaft. I am a shaft junkie and this might not work for everyone, but it works for me. I do not know about higher loft Razr X clubs, only this 18 degree version. I am not an anything Callaway type and only use them for this hybrid and several different models of three wood over the years. They do fairway woods and hybrids well.

One thing I do with this hybrid is if I need to insure a high flght and soft landing, I will open it up a little and play a little cut fade. This is not my normal shot but I can do it fairly reliably with this club. You lose about 10 yards, but gain a lot of control and it stops like a mid iron. On other shots where I want to draw the ball and drive it with roll, you can swing as hard as you want and not worry about the balloon. It may be a 2 iron replacement, but I will sometimes hit the soft cut I might otherwise use a 4 iron to hit. It is that versitile. So, in effect, this one club serves as two or even 3 clubs in my bag.

Only hit the 2 at the shop. But the simulator confirmed what i felt, decent distance, great feel, and great workability - possibly too much (or perhaps I was just diddling more than I should). I'm still holding off from the purchase given how crazy the reviews are on the Adams. But I believe they would be a solid addition to my bag especially if I can get my hands on one for under a 100. I want something for the 210-240 range.

Kuro Kage's in mine which I find to be a good pairing. There's probably longer pairings out there but I find I have a lot of control with this setup which is really what I'm looking for in hybrids.

how are they out of the rough? they look a little shallow...
Depends on the rough you usually see. If we're talking first or even second cutt most places then it's fine. If the ball is sitting up, you're golden. If it's a couple inches deep or in the really thick stuff, then that's another story and the area where it doesn't shine so well.
If you've seen the evil, deep rough at say Chambers Bay or at the Canadian Open last year that is not where you want to try to use this club.

Just hit my buddy's today. He's an older fella who can boom it. I hit the 3 hybrid. It was nice, but I prefer my 3 iron. A bit high of a ball flight for me.
I could not tell from your sig, do you use the MBs 3 iron?
Yes. The Callaway Razr MBs aren't as hard to hit as one might think. I love them. Feel like butter.

I tried these hybrids but ended up selling them and going back to my long irons. They have a very nice look at address but I wish they were adjustable.

What didn't you like? Did they go left on you?

I am experimenting with an 18* with a Fubuki ax 400hct X flex and liking it quite a lot. It will take some more getting used to but it is a very nice hybrid. My favorite feature is the sole design which is very versatile and can get through almost any lie. Also (perhaps due mostly to the X) I don't have problems with a hook. My miss is definitely a draw with it and I have hit a few left but I can hit a cut if necessary and the hook misses aren't gargantuan like they were with most hybrids I tried.
