what's your other passion?

So we all love (most days) golf, and playing new courses and trying out new gear......its golfwrx for goodness sake.....why else come here?....but what else are you into? What I mean by that is what else do you "put yourself into"? Do you track a car? Love to hunt? Play an instrument?...etc......just thought it would be interesting to see a thread about the other things we all do or could do for hours and totally get lost into as a mental break (a passion).....oh....and please keep it clean so it doesn't get shut down too quickly.

As a start, other than golf, I love to study and play the Flamenco guitar.....just totally lose track of time and feel very recharged afterward

hit is with so much authority
that when you find it
and it sees you, it is trembling.

Tennis and skiing. Golf is my 3rd favourite sport behind those two.

I used to 'track a car' and by that, I mean do national level SCCA Autocross for about 10 years. Then gas prices hit $3.00+ and it was costing too much just to go to local events, never mind driving 700-1000 miles to one (either driving the car out, or towing it).

Golf became much cheaper all of a sudden and picked it back up. Golf is really the only thing right now I put my energy into (other than web dev work). I do get my racing kicks by watching the WRC tho. Been to a few and love watching/following it.

I play guitar. I used to do the band thing and play all around the country. I was lucky enough to have a job that would let me go on tour for a few months at a time and let me come back. I just had to share some tour stories!

I restore/build/tinker with 70/80's japanese motorcycles. I usually buy something cheap in the late fall, and tinker with it all winter, then ride it until I sell it the following summer. I have a couple bikes that are "mine", but there's usually something I'm putting together just for the sake of doing it.

Yamaha xj650...This one went to a friend of mine, still rides it a little here and there.

A bandit 1200 reclamation project that came out kind of cool...

A Duc that I raced for a bit and then moved last season (I may regret that one if I can't find an 800 or 1000 SS that I like)

And my daily rider, that's as close to permanent as anything I own, I love this sv1000, and will likely keep it forever. Great cross between a commuter bike and something fun for track days, and with luggage a decent touring ride.

I play guitar, though not as well as my friends. However I can run any small-medium sound system in the country. So I stay involved with music running the front of house sound

+1 Autocross. I still do it a lot but it does cost a pretty penny if you want to be competitive. It's not so much the gas, it's the freaking $1500 a set tires that you go through 3-4X a year.

i played drums , sang, and played guitar in a few bands , then it was guitar HO'ing. then i bought a 23 ft mako and my garage looked like a bait and tackle store. in fact at the time i had my boat, a friend's bait shop was going out of business so he would sell me 1000. worth of tackle for 300. once a month. and that was wholesale prices. any who , its all about golf and fitness right now. and watching my NY Giants and Yankees.

Target shooting (IHMSA), table tennis, chess, and racing. I used to autocross local events years ago, then had a car built for that and autocross "left" my area and I didn't want to drive three hours for the closest venue. So I started drag racing and decided to sell that car and I'm 99% done with a purpose-built drag truck. (Here's a couple old pics to give an idea.). I've got to get my racing license soon and then start dialing in the four-link.

What r you running in the truck?....which class are you wanting to run?

Power is made by a 525BBC (4.5" stroke) at 14:1 with a conservative estimate of 875hp and 725tq based on all the data entered into the computer. It's got a lot of gear and plenty of tire to post a good 60'. I say "purpose-built" but I did make one concession, and that was to use a tranny with an overdrive (built 4L80 manual valve) so I can get a little local street time. It still has straight-cut 1st & 2nd gears and driveline built to hold 1500hp (with braced 9" Ford 3" axle housing being the weakest link). I'm starting with a 2.75 1st, 1.75 2nd with 4.56 rear and 31" tire on foot brake with velocity stack and responsive Pro Systems SV1 single-venturi (one-barrel) carb.

I was going to race Orlando in NHRA Sportsman, but they just closed their track and now have to go to West Palm (PBIR) which is IHRA. So now I've got to switch my brain and rules over to IHRA rules.

Craft beer, college football and cooking. College football is just watching the game that i cant get enough of. Not only do I love drinking craft beer but the chase of tracking down rare release beers is a blast. I have really gotten into cooking lately. Trying new recipes and cooking meals for people to come over and eat is a lot of fun.
