I just recently purchased some golf shoes and couldnt wait for them to come in the mail. I have never played with golf shoes before and was confident I would love them because my course is very hilly and you have some awkward shots even in the fairway. I have played 36 holes in them and I can not hit anything off the tee with them. The best drive I have had with them was a very low snap hook into a tree that bounced into the fairway. Most other shots with my driver have been tops. I am usually straight down the center around 270. As for the irons off the tee, I make goodish contact but snap hook all of them with these shoes. I cant even hit a teed up ball out of the fairway while wearing these shoes. Usually I can have a good drive and tee up and hit my driver again and be near the green on my homes courses par 5 holes. My question is, what should I do? Keep going to the range and hope it eventually all works out or just toss them? The shoes are Adidas Adistar One golf shoes and they have some aggressive spikes. Could that be the problem or are they just a different height than my vans and thats why they have messed me up? Perhaps it not the golf shoes at all.

I play in a league so scores matter. Do you think it would be more beneficial to play practice rounds and go to range in golf shoes, but play in my tennis shoes until im comfortable with them? Or do you think it will mess me up even worse by switching around what im doing?
How exactly does this "league" feel about you teeing the ball up in the fairway to hit your driver again? Get off the internet man.

If they dont see it then it doesnt matter! No harm done at all.
Oh boy.. Lol !

I had the same problem when I tucked it in to the right. It seemed the bell would rub against my right knee impeding my backswing and causing me to snap hook everything.

Keeping it tucked to the left, I would cream it straight up the guts. Sure, the follow through would pinch a little and bring a tear to the eye, but the pain is worth it to knock a ball 250 down the middle.

1. stop cheating ......

2. Repent for your golf related sins

3. consider spikeless shoes like the FJ countour casuals. They will feel more like your vans, and give you grip.

4. See your local PGA professional and see if he sees anything with your swing when you put on golf shoes vs use non golf shoes.

I would use them at a Range to get used to them, it is a mental thing not a golf thing.

On the off chance is thread is for real, I'll play along. Although I have no idea what vans are, I'm guessing they offer les traction than the new golf shoes, causing the OP to slow his swing down and quiet his happy feet. With the new found traction, the OP now feels free to wail away at it and jump around all over the place. If so, the obvious solution is to s l o w d o w n....

You're lying. And/or you're a cheater.

And you can't figure out how to wear shoes and play golf.

And you use a bad example for a match.com photo for your profile photo.

You should just read, and never post.

First off. does it fit?

do you feel like your feet is cramped in your golf shoe?

this is always the issue when buying things online.

and be honest to yourself about this. because it will affect your back badly. this is not the same as teeing up on your second shot so you really have to throw away the idea of "i spent money, i should stick with it"

Sorry guys, this post was exaggerated quite a bit. I played it asics and do not cheat. I really still cant hit the ball in them, even after 6 range sessions. Im getting rid of golf shoes and buying different ones. They are about a half size too big and I think that may be part of the issue. Thats what I get for buying online. Does anyone have any recommendations for a shoe that is not full blown spikes, but better grip than tennis shoes?

Usually, for a person into the barefoot thrend, it is better to err on the side of larger, so your feet can spread out inside your shoes. I wear a pair of shoes with about an inch of room in front of my biggest toe, but the width feels right. What i do is tie the laces tight so my feet don't slip. Its great for me.

Your best bet since you are not experienced in buying shoes online, is to go to your local pro and buy something that feels good to you. Try a few swings if they let you, walk about. Just don't damage anything you haven't paid for.
