Scotty Cameron Custom Question

New to the forum here. I have a Scotty Camron Studio Style Newport that I've had for 7 years. It's been to the custom shop twice, and has my initials on the toe bumper on the back. I just recently purchased a TM Spider and will likely be sticking with that in the bag. Does anyone know of any way to fill in the custom engraving so that I can sell my putter? Not sure anyone will want a putter with my initials on it. I have thought about a soldering iron but I don't want to mess with the finish of the putter. Also considered filling it then trying a brush metal polish finish, but once again don't want to ruin the integrity and look of the putter.

 

Any thoughts??

I wouldn't bother paying anyone to fill those initials. Initials or no initials, the Studio Style is one of the least desirable lines out there. Regardless, even if you did pony up the dollars, the weld will result in ghosting anyway.

any pics of the putter? why not keep it and hang onto it? not sure if you have kids but it would be a good stick for a little one getting into the game. keep in mind with CS prices now - it may deter some from buying it with initials unless they buy it to do their own work. "full restoration plus $100 for initial weld area and $25 for each subsequent area on the putter".

$390 at the minimum ($100 for weld and $290 for restoration). that's more than a new putter now and IMO not worth it to remove some initials. i'd keep it - those studio styles are solid sticks.

Take out the paint fill, maybe someone won't be bothered as much by the initials

Or just keep it, like others have said resto fees are nuts right now and not worth it if you're trying to sell it

No way I would sell a custom putter. In 3, 6, 12 months you might be dying to get that putter back because that Spider has suddenly gone into the tank. Can't tell you the number of times I've back to the used putter rack in my basement to solve some woes. That doesn't include the new ones I've ordered too.

You should keep that putter for life. The money will not be worth the memories and being able to take it from time to time and stroke some putts with it.

you have to buy one first, then sent it to them.

You can get a custom Scotty without sending in your own at the gallery in Encinitas. I went there last summer and got a putter fitting and was fitted into this one. I'm not sure though if you can buy a custom one off the rack there without a fitting.
