Tiger Woods' new T/M wedges - shot @ 2018 US Open

Working directly with master craftsman Mike Taylor — who worked at Nike Golf with Woods — Demkowski received numerous grinds to study before settling on a grind for both wedges that was machined in-house.

Once the heads were complete, Demkowski sent the wedges back to Taylor, who built them to Woods' specifications. While the entire process took four weeks, it was only within the last week-and-a-half that Woods began working the wedges at home.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought I remember reading that TM was using stainless steel for their wedges and Tiger wanted the carbon steel that he's used to. Would explain why there isn't the red plastic on the bottom of the sole as well.

The MG wedges have been carbon steel so, I was sure what you were trying to say. Not sure why the plug is out but it could have something to do with the grind and possible only on the original set. I have heard TM has made him back ups that are CNC milled not hand worked.

Got ya. I went back to the other thread and found the article I was thinking of. Here's the quote:

Nike made terrible woods.....nobody even said their classic forged Blade & CB Irons & Wedges weren't as good as anyone elses!!!

I think you are correct on the process. But you never know who owns that cad program. They maybe artisan on rent to TM. Heck. It wouldn’t shock me to know that artisan had the capability to mill these themselves. Exactly... and let's not forget that the MT (Artisan) stamp is on not one but BOTH wedges.

 

lets also not forget that anyone with a decent milling machine and software could do this. You guys all act like there is only one person in the world that know how to grind a wedge.... jeez.

I think the difference here is that most of what Nike made for retail was terrible. Not everything-- they did make some very nice retail stuff but the vast majority was below average. The clubs they made for the tour was an entirely different story.
