Hi everyone!

I am currently a college freshman who wants to become a golf club designer. I have worked as a club fitter and repair person since I was 17 so I know a lot about the golf industry and that his how I realized my passion was to be the one designing clubs.

I was wondering if anyone had an idea of who I can contact at the major brands to help answer some questions for me about how they got into the business and what they do.

I really appreciate any help you can give.

Get a degree in some sort of engineering and hopefully you can apply that. You're not really going to be able to get a college degree in golf club design but having an engineering background will be helpful to golf companies once you graduate. Anthony T at Callaway who does all the cool wedge stamping applied to be a ball machine operator and that was his job when he started with Callaway so most often it's having a good educational background and getting in the door and then working your way up from there.

A mechanical engineering degree with some extra course work in design would be a great place to start. Learn how to play too; low single digit handicap would be a good thing to put on a resume when seeking a club design job.

Thanks I am currently a mechanical engineering major with a 5 handicap and have been playing my whole life.

I'll try reaching out to those guys.

I am more looking for someone to just teach me about the actual engineering and designing of the clubs and how they got into it as their chosen field.
