Spin numbers look a little low and might also benefit from more flex. If you haven't already, I'd try the same shaft in regular flex. I play Modus 105/ REG flex in my 919 Forged and the feeling is great. If you are an improving ball striker but can consistently hit it straight I wouldn't be too afraid of the 919 Forged. In fact, the extra loft of the Forged may actually help vs the strong lofts in the mid/long irons of the HM. I hit mine better than the 900 Hot Metal and the 900 Forged I had previously and enjoy the feel greatly.

I agree with this. Unless the OP has a seriously fast transition at the top, he should check out regular or even senior shafts. Having said that, a shaft fitting can sometimes have unexpected results. He may find he does hit the stiff shafts the best.

> I'm playing 919 HM and have also noticed the feel/sound differences noted by the OP for the G and S wedges. I believe arbeck got it right describing the effect of sound. The G and S wedges have a different design approach than the other irons in the HM set, in particular with what Mizuno calls the "sound ribs".

I've never liked the Hot Metal gap wedge. I had the set GW when I had the 900s and immediately dumped it for the forged GW. I hit the 919 HM GW in the store and it was the same deal, so I ordered another 919 Forged GW. Not only fits the set from an aesthetic standpoint, but it feels good and in line with the rest of my set. A gap wedge is a full swing club for me.

The fitter said he figured the stiff shafts would be better to develop in to. Maybe that should've been a red flag, but I just assumed he knew better than I did. So, likely, REG flex shafts might work better for me but refitting the entire set is not going to happen at this point ($$$).

On a side note, I picked up a used MP-5 8 iron (stiff shaft) off eBay, as I needed a "desert" club here in Vegas. I've always loved the look of them. Hit about 10 balls on the range prior to playing, and was shocked how straight and consistent it was. Slightly less carry than the HM, but that is likely due to loft I'm guessing. Not that I'm going to immediately get a set and start playing them, of course. I will admit, I'm starting to hit the HM's better, even though I'm not the biggest fan. I'm thinking eventually I will have a mixed set of some sort, in the end.

Does anyone know if Mizuno is done producing these? I've seen it mentioned on here that a new JPX line is coming out this year.

I ordered a mixed set of HM/HM Pros. I ordered the 6 and 7 iron in the regular hot metal and they screwed up my order and gave me all Hot Metal Pros. Now they're sold out of the 6 iron in the Hot Metal and it appears I'm SOL. Incredibly frustrating. They probably ran out of 6 irons after I ordered, and instead of informing me they probably just decided to build them all in Pro and hoped I wouldn't notice. I can't even take it up directly with them either because I ordered the clubs through an online retailer.
