Mizuno F-50 is the winner

The tester's pick for fairway woods in the new Golf magazine is the Mizuno F-50. It was rated over the Nike Sasquatch, Cleveland Launcher, Ping G5. Has anyone played the F-50?

I've hit bot the SQ and G5 3 woods and they are great. I've only seen the F-50 but it is as classically beautiful as it gets: dead square, no sight aid and full scoring lines across the face. Very nice looking club.

I haven't hit it either, but from looking at it, it seems like a very good club. I still wonder how the new Exsar shaft plays.

I hit the F50 and it is a very solid FW. I would recommend it to anyone. I have been thinking about getting a couple to play with.

I thought the MP--1 was a pretty nice FW so I am interested in trying the new one from Mizuno.

It's funny. Titleist and Mizuno are opposites. Lately, Mizuno can't make a decent driver to save its life, but their fairway woods using the same technology and look are awesome. Titleist does a good job with the Driver, but their FWs are flops.

Until recently, I would agree. The 904F is fantastic.

The review intrigued me. I am very interested in giving the F-50 (loved the pic of the club at address) a go as well as the new Cleveland 3 wood. I was surprised the the Nike SQ go such low ratings.

Went to Roger Dunn today and was happy they had the F-50 in stock. I compared it to the new Cleveland Launcher. The Launcher looked a bit closed to my eye, the Miz was dead square. The Miz had a slightly larger head and deeper face, but not as large as a titanium FW. It took me a while to realize the F-50 is a composite (steel and graphite crown). The feel (indoor net) of the F-50 felt a bit more solid than the Cleveland.

 

Anyways, I bought the F-50 and am anxious to see how it fares against my 2004 Cally BB. I have a feeling the Cally's going to the pine. The F-50 feels and looks oustanding.

Thanks for the link, interesting info. I tried the MP-001 fairway woods earlier this year and did not like those much. Finally decided on a TM V Steel, solid and very playable. I agree with TM82, they should have tested a few other good fairway woods out there.

I am going to have to hit one of the mizunos. I do find it funny that the G5 was given oonly devent ratings on distance. My one complaint with it is that the face can be a little too hot sometimes. I can go really long with my G5 3 w sometimes when I am not intending to.

The Mizuno is hot and solid. Probably the most solid feeling fairway wood I've hit in a long time, the only other one in the listing i've hit is the G5 which was also very solid but behind the mizuno. I didn't care much for the Exsar shaft but if you get that changed i think the f50 would end up being a solid buy.
