Is there Hilton Head newspaper or magazine with golf deals, that can be found on line or in the stores?

Islandpacket.com is the paper. Golfnow.com is probably the best option for specials. If you register with Old South, they will send you deals all the time.

Just vacationing in June and trying to pick two great courses and a decent price. I love the reviews on golfadvisor, yelp etc. Within a week, one reviewer says, the course is in horrible shape and then the next guy says it is in good shape. You don't know who to believe. It does seem like they are in very dry conditions.

They have had no rain in a while so things are a bit dry. Call to make sure they aren't aerating. They usually do that in early/mid June.

thx, it looks like Palmetto Dunes will be aerating at that time.

Pretty much everybody aerates at the same time. When the kids were in school, we always came down mid June and the greens were always punched.

Golfnow is probably your best bet. We also have a small magazine called Hilton Head Island Golf that you can pick up in most grocery stores and golf shops. It has most of the area courses listed and some coupons inside.

I'll recommend Oyster Reef and Shipyard. Played there about 5 years ago. OR was really nice.

Headed to HHI this weekend. How's current conditions? Any last minute recommendations before I get there? Any deals?

Golfnow is probably your best bet as far a "deals" are concerned, but I would also call the course first to check on conditioning (prior to booking on golfnow). Most courses are in good condition right now..............at least those who haven't punched their greens yet.

Where ever you call to make a tee time, make sure to ask what their condition is and if they have punched recently.

Country Club of Hilton Head: Course in good shape but the practice facility is closed for renovation (4 to 6 months). The putting green is open, though.

Old South: Good condition but the greens are a bit thin and inconsistent. Some greens were actually painted green.

Palmetto Dunes Jones: Great condition but the greens had not been cut in several days due to rain. Check with the clubhouse about the greens if you play there.

Palmetto Hall Cupp: punched
