Coolest clubhouse out there?

There are a lot of outstanding clubhouses around the world. Like the King Kamehameha GC in Maui built by Frank Lloyd Wright.

 

What is your favourite?

 

Mine is Gaekwad Baroda GC that I discovered last week when I spent a few days in India. Check this out…...

my favorite that I have been to is Cascata in Las Vegas....they treat you like royalty... nd by chance you get a hole in one they LITERALLY bring out the red carpet.

The Whistling Straits clubhouse is the coolest one I've seen.

Depends on what is "cool" to you.

I loved having lunch in the Bandon Trails clubhouse overlooking the dunes, the Preserve and the ocean. Didn't have lockers or any other amenities, but the food was pretty good and the view was incredible. Ate lunch there all 3 days we played even if we weren't playing out of that clubhouse.

I loved checking out the wall of fame at ASU Karsten. Overall the clubhouse wasn't anything special, but the history on that wall was pretty cool too see.

Old ones at good courses, with a real sense of putting you back in the old days of the grand game are my favorite and the ones I think are the 'coolest'.

Of ones I've been in off the top of my head, I'd say Pine Needles.

Unfortunately a lot of the classic Irish and UK links courses built some truly terrible ones from the 60s onwards, For modern clubhouses Kohler is pretty darn cool.

The clubhouse is incredible and I got lost in it - literally.

Last summer they had a "member for a day" special for $45. They allowed full access and it was amazing. Simply amazing. Just do a search and see what I mean. (May be completely private now, not sure) One of the employees said they spend $6,000,000 on the clubhouse alone. (BTW the course is awesome too - a nice Faldo design with unique hills throughout which isn't typical here in the flatlands)

Pete Dye Golf Club in WV
It's not that big and fancy overall but the Men's Grill overlooking the 18th green is awesome! And the waterfall showers are great.

The Medalist
Great Men's grill-room. Much fun had in there

The Dye Preserve
Maybe my favorite overall. Very subtle but oozes class, perfect layout and awesome beer selection in the 19th hole.

The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island has an understated clubhouse that allows you to enjoy the ocean's beauty in a way that's nothing short of stunning.

If really wanting to be there is a measure of a grand clubhouse, that one is it for me.

East Lake Golf Club is my personal favorite. It isn't the largest or the fanciest I've ever seen but, there is something special about walking by all of the Bobby Jones memorabilia and having a couple of ginger snaps (made the way he liked them) before your round.

Of the courses I've played Butler National, Oakland Hills or The Dunes Club (Michigan).

For very different reasons. Butler and Oakland Hills for the history and size. And the Dunes Club for its simplicity. It's different than any other clubhouse, possibly in the country.

Absolutely, when I saw that clubhouse in India i could not believe my eyes. Absolutely unbelievable. You cannot afford to build somehting like that anymore today but at the time they had the money, the resources and the time.

Completely agree on the Ocean Course. Had a chance to play there in November and my fiance and I actually decided to get married there this Spring. Very understated but it really is absolutely breathtaking when you are out there.

...and adding in all the cool facts of the history there makes it even better.
Still have to go with Pinehurst though. Not as extravagant as these others but I can remember my first trip there walking the halls in absolute awe.

I agree.

Played Ballybunion in Ireland a few years back and if I remember correctly, they have an automatic sliding glass entrance door. Completely out of character for the course. I would have expected an old wooden door.

National has an amazing clubhouse. Shinnecock is great, but the experience at National is just memorable.

I rate scenery/view pretty high up on the list as what makes a cool clubhouse/bar/restaurant type setting.


That said, El Dorado down in Cabo San Lucas, Kapalua and Arcadia Bluffs are some of my favorites...

The Royal and Ancient is pretty sweet, too bad I'll never set foot in it.
