Miyazaki JDL vs Tour AD DI

Has anyone played both of these shafts and can offer a useful side by side comparison? I read somewhere and saw a chart that shows the flex profile of each shaft and I believe they were identical from the butt through the mid section with the JDL having a bit softer tip. I think this was comparing the JDL 6s to the Tour AD DI 6s.

 

Any input would be appreciated (subjective and objective data) and specifically if anyone has experience in the 7x versions of both I'd love to hear those comparisons.

I tried both, and for me personally, the DI is far softer in the mid section. Or at least more differentiation between the butt/mid/tip section of the DI than the JDL. The JDL feels a little more consistent through the whole bend profile. The JDL spin numbers were pretty good for me actually, but is fairly head sensitive. Get a low spinning head like the SLDR, BBA, Bio Cell+, or Ping Anser/i25 and it performs pretty well with no excess spin issues for me personally.

I've never played the Tour AD DI, but love the Miyazaki. Don't care about launch monitors so have no "data" to share other than my positive opinion and the chart below.

The X flex comparison is fine, I was actually looking for 7x vs 7x, but I think the generalities should be pretty close with the 6x comparison. I only mentioned stiff because I thought that was what the above chart referenced. Thanks to everyone who has contributed.

So hopefully someone can answer this question for me as well, using the 6x chart from above as reference, would tipping the JDL match it more closely with the tour ad di profile (especially in the tip section) and if so, how much tipping would be needed? Or, would tipping affect the overall stiffness of the shaft to change the characteristics it currently has so that it would actually less resemble the Tour AD DI?

Just shows the importance of trying these shafts, as these are very different shafts in terms of feel, and feel is so personal. Just because bend profiles are the same is no reflection on how they compare in real world usage. As I said, for me, the JDL was pretty tight and predictable, and the DI was all over the Car Park in terms of dispersion and consistency of ballflight.

I was told, not long ago, by Tom Wishon, after he gave me some comparison shaft bend profiles, not to rely on them for fitting purposes, and a similar EI bend profile can play and feel very different to a shaft that looks the same on paper as another. Looks like he was absolutely right!

Just looking at the specs, torque goes from 4.1 in the 6x to 3.3 in the 7x for the JDL, which would point to a possible significant increase in tip stiffness in the heavier shaft. The AD DI goes from 3.3 to 3.1 for the same weight change. My guess would be that the 7x profiles would be closer than the 6x that Nessism showed.

And of course, torque is only one of many facets to a Golf shaft.

I play the jdl 6x in my classic custom and I love it, more stable than it feels and I've had zero spin issues...granted the classic custom is a fairly low spin head as is but I would be very hard pressed to spring for the cost of an addi over the cost of a jdl considering the minor difference.

Bag stolen...we shall rebuild!  We have rebuilt!
