Richard O'Hara persimmon clubs

Does anyone know the history or any details of the Richard O'Hara persimmon driver line I seen a few up for auction over the years and a lot of them look really nice is anyone have anything to say or any input....

Based out of Portland Oregon, according to Dave Wood he sued them for copyright, nice heads but knockoff of Wood Bro.

I have one with a USA Soleplate and it is a serious high quality driver. I can see why Wood Bros. would file a lawsuit.

I kind of apprenticed for him from the time I was 11 through early adolescents. He was a craftsman and an amazing club maker with a compact powerful swing. I cleaned the shop in exchange for lessons and eventually did some work on the clubs. He had two high end woods, the American Classics (similar to the old Tommy Armour woods) and the Legend Classics (with a head shape similar to the ping eye two woods, but made from persimmon instead of laminated maple). He also was one of the first (if not the first) to make an oversized driver - the Jumbo 747 - made from laminated maple. My dad was his friend and I recently inherited a bunch of his woods and irons.

Legend Classics sound good. I've seen some of the lie angles on the Ping woods, and they look nice and flat!

I have been comparing a lot of my persimmon drivers on track monitor and so far my Richard O'Hara AC693 is my hardest hitting driver. My MacGregor 653 and Jumbo M85TW are close but Clevelands, Wood Bros, Orlimars and Powells can't quite compete. Low 240s carry with AC693, mid - high 230s with the Macs & all others high 220s - low 230s. MacGregors and The American Classic I hit solid the most with the Orlimars and Powells close behind.

Took my MacGregor 945W, 653, and the AC693 out today in 90 degree temps and I have a new longest driver. The 945W was 244-247 carry while the other 2 were around 240. Funny thing I had sold this 945W on Ebay and the guy returned it due to what he thought was a crack. The driver is super solid and I'm glad I got it back.
