What should I do?

I hit my 7 iron 145-150 and have a smooth tempo. I got a great deal on a set of KBS Tour V stiff shafts 3-PW. I do not hit 3 or 4 irons.

With my distance on the 7 iron and a Driver SS of 90-95 should I soft step once or twice? Thanx for your help!

You should be able to hit them as they are. If not, soft step once only.

I currently play PX 5.0 in my Ping S 59's. And they are perfect for me. What is your opinion if these KBS's go into Cleveland 588 CB's?

I would expect them to be a bit stiff, but i'd try them straight in before soft stepping them. Great shaft btw!!

With a smooth tempo, it could be any of the above: ssx2, ssx1, or straight in. Your personal preference for feel could have a big influence in the decision.

Start by putting the 3 iron shaft in your 5 and test it out. Then switch it out for the 4 iron shaft and compare. Unfortunately It doesn't give you a side by side comparison but it should get you close.

Just remember, it's always easier to do an additional soft step after the first install than do any hard stepping so its better to start out firmer (unstepped or ssx1) if there is any question.

When I moved to DG s300 I had 1 iron built as ss1x to try it out before I committed to the whole set. I had the advantage of having a spare set of heads (MP52) to try out.

As usual - Stuart gives solid advice (no offense to the other members who assisted as well).

I ended up going 1X and it is perfect and the shaft is FANTASTIC. I just finished turning the ferrules tonight and they look great too! I put White with silver ring and Black and White NDMCs on them. The shafts were all the same exact weight, the heads were within 1 g of being 7 g apart and the grips were withing 1 g of each other also. I called KBS and the tech there told me NOT to 2X them. And also said that they recommend to be more concerned with static weight gaps than with Swing weight. But they all came out within 1 SW. And I am not good enough to tell that tight of a difference. The weights were exactly 7 g between irons except the Wedges which I cut 1/4 inch down from the 9 iron.
