Backwards hat

i think that there is a huge difference between choice of attire and being verbally disrespectful to the coach....or not showing up for a team event. Making a rule to show up on time and be respectful is one thing. Making a kim jong un rule that kids have to dress the way you want is silly.

This thread is still amazing.

Agreed. As long as your clothing doesn't have offensive images or wording, who cares what you wear or how you wear it.

The way some people on here feel about something like a backwards hat makes me feel like I traveled back to the 1940's.

It's not silly. It's called a dress code and it's how society works. If you don't think so, try showing up to the Fortune 100 company where I work in clothes that don't meet the dress code, and see how that goes for you.

You guys who say you don't care what anyone thinks about you, at least understand that it's normal and natural for everyone around you to judge you at all times. That's how we evolved to survive on this planet. Is this person trustworthy? Is this person reliable? It this person sharp, intelligent, etc.? We're constantly evaluating. You're all evaluating too. I love the replies that say nobody should judge by clothing because you've looked at other golf clothing and already judged it, too. That's solid thinking, there. "All your traditional golf clothing is gay so you can't judge mine." How does that make it out of someone's thoughts onto a computer without them realizing how contradictory it is? Perfect.

Thanks for making my point, i also dont show up to work wearing any sort of hat, or a golf polo, or shorts. Becuase work isnt a game for me, its work. Golf is a game. Two completely different aspects of my life. When im having fun playing a game, i can wear whatever i please.

It's not my team rule about backwards hats it's the whole state of Michigan high school sports who say backwards hats aren't allowed. Augusta national told Rickie fowler to turn his hat around as well.
isnt augusta national the country club that hadnt accepted a single female member until a few years ago when they decided to accept the first lady? Clearly augusta is struggling to move itself forward from the 1940s, so i wouldnt necessarily use that example to make a point.

Well, you can't. I mean, show up at the golf course in a speedo and they won't let you play. You can't wear whatever you please. Like I said, dress codes.

Now, can you wear whatever you want inside the limits of the dress code? Sure. And if it's stupid, people will judge you for it. They won't say "hey, look at that guy expressing his individuality". They will say "look at the idiot over there, can you believe what he's wearing?"

I don't make the facts, I just report them. That's how the world works.

LOL. This thread is funny because golfers wear some of the gayest sh!t I've ever seen. Talk about a lack of masculinity. I only wear a backwards hat to the gym, never to the course. However, a backwards hat is the least of our problems when in comes to the stereotypical golfer attire. Here we go:

Plaid....GAY

Cargo Shorts.....GAY

Pink and Light Purple colors.....GAY

Neon Colors.....GAY

Payne Stewart-esque attire....GAY

Visors......GAY

And thats just a start. With more time I think I can come up with more

That cap Furyk flipped around is a perfect example of a hat not designed to be worn backwards. Maybe that's one reason why so many people think it looks stupid.

Wait, what?

If a hat was designed to be worn backwards then it wouldn't be backwards then ...

I don't wear a hat on the course period, but off the course I wear hats backward all the time. Don't like the look of most when forward, and sometimes just need something to cover my mop if I go out before a shower/after a nap. That being said, unless I'm at a muni I judge people harshly when I see them playing 18 with a backward cap.
