No new acquistions...?

And I'm looking for a Golden Ram Axial Tour Grind Frequency Matched 6 iron. A Ram Tom Watson Scoring System 860 60° sand wedge would be OK too. ;)

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

Hello Classic gamers! Take a look at this set of Gary Player International irons I came across at a play it again. 50 bucks. These are by "Professional Golf Co" That is not the same company as the PG Arnold palmer irons correct? I believe PG stands for Pro Group, not professional Golf Co? I couldn't find much about these on the internet. The shaft tags look brand new and they say "First Flight" shot maker, True temper. First flight was also a golf club manufacturer correct? The grips are golf pride fine line "pro only"

Anyone have any info on these. I figured I would check with you guys before I game them. Now I can't decide if I want to play in the vintage club with my 1959 Haig ultras or these puppies. I think I got a steal on these irons.

Thanks!

Ok so I think I figured these out finally. Professional Golf Co. isn't the name brand I don't believe. I think First Flight is, which matches the shaft bands. These blades look identical to the "First Flight" Tonny Penna irons. I will post a pic for comparison.

The clubs are beginning to reappear in the thrifts, like flowers in the spring. So while running some errands today, did some scrounging. Nothing like above, but a couple of items of interest were found.

A Wilson Original R-90 Sand Iron with a coated (Pyratone) shaft for a coupe of bucks. Very long hosel. At first glance thought it was vintage. But not so sure now. No hosel pins, GP Victory grip. Thinking it may be a remake. Nice shape though and looked rather interesting. So that alone was a good enough reason to bring it home.

Titliest 975 driver with stock shaft in great shape. Have had one on the radar since the 975 thread. Doesn't look much different than the 983K acquired and played last year. Just a bit smaller. We'll see how it plays once I can get out with regularity. Wrestled with trying to decide if I wanted to buy it. Only $5.00, figured what the heck. Why leave it for someone else to pickup.

Damn sideways pics. Two post with the correct orientation and the third doesn't. Digital mystery.

Edit Note: Found a post discussing R90 v. R-90 sand irons. 99% sure this is a remake from the 70's.

I really like the look of that red/white/blue shaft band on the Player irons.

Steve, I couldn't believe how good of shape the shaft bands were in on those player irons. usually that is the first thing to go. They look all vintage and patriotic. Very cool looking. I am finally learning some cool info on those old companies Like PG, Professional Golf Co. First Flight etc. A lot of those old clubs you can tell came from the same basic design. I love the square toe look, and compact blade.

Excellent "scrounge" HH. The wide flange Bullseye looks interesting. And a full set of Tour Blades is always a must acquire when found. Look forward to seeing the pics once you've spruced them up.

Hit I couple of thrifts myself today. Not to much to be found. Did manage to find a couple of wedges. Scratch 60* with KBS Tour shaft. Mizuno MP-T Series Black NI 56*/13* with TTDG wedge shaft. Really didn't need more wedges (one can never have to many wedges), but they were $2.10 with the senior day discount. So they had to be acquired. I'm liking the look of the Mizuno, a dark "oil can" style of finish. Looking forward to giving it an audition. I swore off using a 60*, but now I'll have to give the Scratch a few swings out on the course.

Also, Hogan Edge E and 8i ($2 each) that are kind of rusted up. But acquired for the still in good shape Apex 4 shafts in them, so the head is rather inconsequential.

Not what I would call vintage/classic acquisitions like those above. But I'm vintage, so hopefully get a pass for posting these IIT. :taunt:

Furthermore, they don't have a "scrounging" thread in the equipment section.

Great finds!!! I hear those scratch wedges have a really nice feel.

That's what I've always heard and read. Will see I guess. Always was planning on making the trip down to their store here in MI. Was only about 20 miles away. Alas, never made it. Now, they're closed for good apparently.

Geez Louise, I gotta start hittin these thrifts with that kinda swag on offer!

Let us know what you think of that Scratch wedge. I tried one once and absolutely hated the KBS Tour shaft; felt like a piece of rebar! Conversely, I would lay money that the Mizzie wedge is money!

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

The Wilson Staff Tour Blades are in great shape. There's a few nicks on a couple of irons but nothing of concern. Some of the grooves hardly even show any wear. The SW is a tour blade FG-17.

I put the Tour Blades in the Fat Shaft bag. Does anyone know the vintage of the irons?
