Billy Horschel Interviews

It sounds like every brain cell is working overtime just to get a few sentences out. I like watching him play, beautiful swing, but his interviews make me cringe.

That's just his personality...He is wired pretty tight and has a lot of energy...and IMO, I like the fact he generally presents pretty authentically in his interviews...

Like with anything else, if you don't enjoy it, find the "mute" button....

I think his interviews are great. He looks like he's thinking about his responses because he probably is. He's not replying as if he's reading off a script like some guys. It's a nice change of pace.

Unlike DJ, Billy doesn't strike me as dumb or unintelligent (just uncomfortable with a mike in his face).

Billy is a fireball of energy, and completely honest in interviews. We need more Horschel like interviewees, and less Kuchars.

Whenever I see his interviews, I see somebody who is trying to be as honest as he possibly can be. I like that, although the way in which he presses his statements out of his body, is a little irritating. But then again, I think it has to do with the fact, that his responses come from very deep inside.

Most of these guys aren't terribly intelligent, but they're the best in the world at golf. The smarter ones know to keep it simple so the media can't run with their statements to create a story.

Billy isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, you can tell that much.

At least their not NFL OR NBA interviews some of those are brutal , these kids need to stay In college longer.

What interview are we talking about? I saw him interviewed after the BMW (I think) and saw him on Playing Lessons. In neither of those situations did I come away with the thought that he was unintelligent or working hard to complete sentences. As a matter of fact, he seemed very intelligent, but certainly the "gears" in his head are working pretty fast. I could only imagine what its like for a personality like him to come off the course where you have to control emotions to be successful and then to have a microphone put in your face with random questions.

You gotta love Billy. Being wrapped tight is neither a choice nor a crime; bet [i]he'd[/i] like to be a little more laid back, too. Hit the worst iron shot in the world on the 18th hole of a big tournament thus giving it away; laughed at himself; cinched up the belt and won the next week instead. What else do you want out of an athlete? I don't watch their interviews expecting or needing nuanced thoughts about the human condidtion.

Sutter interviews are pretty comical. He gave a great response in the Anaheim series when he was asked about how well John Gibson was playing.

I think it was a bit refreshing , seeing unedited honest responses from him after the tournament.
Yea I felt like cringing a bit but rather like hearing a whole hearten response that then something that sounds rehearse and muted

When Horschel starts seeing the ball go in the hole he truly starts to think that he should make everything. He's a character, and golf needs more characters because they have plenty of lookalikes out there.

I just wanted to add, that for some reason, an honest, cocky Billy Horschel is much more likeable for me than an honest, cocky Patrick Reed.
I guess it is just like with people you really meet in the real world. You like some, you don't like others.

Billy is fine, I do not think he is dumb nor trying too hard. I think that this particular opinion is probably manufactured by a person's preconceived notion of how Billy should act.

I would ask that the OP and others that agree with him/her to post some links to whatever interviews have led you to that opinion. Watching the few clips that I've seen and knowing Billy, I would say that he thinks about what he's saying before he says it.

Given the inane questions that sports reporters/interviews always ask, it is difficult for anyone to give intelligent-sounding answers.
