Luna Vista - next week

I'll be in Addison for a work related conference Sunday through Wednesday. If anyone wants to join me for a brisk round Sunday the 8th at about 3:30 or Wednesday the 11th first thing (7:00 I assume) at Luna Vista please PM me.

Any comments on current course condition would be appreciated, too.

You might want to call and ask mid-week about how soggy the course it. We've had a lot of rain/snow/sleet in the last 10 days, and even if it were warm enough today, I'm sure the course would be VERY VERY soggy, and in the winter courses don't seem to absorb water as well.

Fortunately the weather next week is supposed to be great, and should be sunny, which will aid the drying out process. But I do worry about a public course built in more low lying land draining well and drying out.

Agree with the comment above. One of the TV stations just tweeted that between rain and snow we've had the equivalent of 3.5 inches of rain since February 22. There is a lot of standing water right now and everything is sloshy. While they will be better by Sunday, I imagine it'll still be a bit soggy.

By next Wednesday it should be in great shape.

Ty for the comments. I'm just getting some cheap golf in between the conference activities. Wet course is no problem at all.

[/quote] So - now that you may have Played the COurse - Did you enjoy it? I find that this course being renovated, the conditions are probably better than an older or not-renovated course with drainage issues.

Other recently Renovated Properties in the DFW area : Steven's Park, Highland ( tension ) , Waterview - Rowlett, Duck Creek ( was closed for some time ... not sure )
Historically MUDDY IMO : Sherril park, Tenison east, Los Rios, Woodbridge ( wyle ) and Keeton park. Keeton I played last week and it's pretty mud covered for first six holes and gets a little better after that.

Late response but I liked it a lot. The greens rolled beautifully, the sand was perfect, and the design was interesting.

Btw, Luna Vista finally reopened this past weekend after having been pretty much underwater since our heavy rains in late May. I think there are still some courses out here (Indian Creek being one of them) that have yet to reopen...

Tribute also just re-opened, but I hear Old American may be closed for the year.

Played Tribute last Saturday and was in pretty good shape for what they have been through. Know a member at Old American who told me they received a letter that said it will be closed 12-18 months. Rumor is they may redo some of it to make it more playable.

[/quote]It sounds like Old American is going to get a big makeover that will pretty much ruin the spirit of the design.

Wow - that's really big news for Old American. I haven't played out there for awhile. I played a couple of times when it first opened. It was a tough track, but a fair test of golf. It was just a bit pricey, especially considering the (at the time) lack of amenities. Granted, this was when they were still operating the clubhouse out of a trailer.

Old American sounds like Doral Tesoro (now Golf Club @ Champions Circle). That place had 3 renovations in like the first 5 or so years. Don't remember the complete story but i think it was first because it was too difficult, and then because of drainage issues.

I played the Tribute yesterday and asked the guys in the shop when Old American may re-open....They said they were trying for next week. So maybe there will not be a renovation.?
