SCOR wedges

So, I was poking around the web and just for the hell of it ended up going through SCORs fitting system and priced a set of their wedges. Apparently they're closing out SCOR to go with the new Ben Hogan company, anyways, 4 clubs came out to $316 including shipping. I called their customer service number to make sure they still had what I wanted in stock, and the guy I talked to said they did. This seemed like a hell of a deal, considering most of the reviews I've read said that they made good (but expensive) clubs. I was planning on buying new wedges soon anyhow, and it seems the go to price is now $129.99 for a lot of the companies out there.

 

 

 

TLDR: 4 SCOR wedges, $79 each.

I have heard a lot of good things about them, mostly from TST. I was going to order some awhile back when I was buying new clubs but I opted for the hell of a deal I got on my ATV wedges.

I would take them up on that offer in a heartbeart. Worst case scenario, you could probably sell them back on eBay for half the cost, maybe a little more.

I got the same price. I was looking at the vokey tvd, but these are interesting.

Scor wedges are awesome. That is a very good deal on them. If I hadn't tried RM-12s I would still be playing scors

I'm debating between the Callaway Mack Daddy 2 wedges or these (these are $10 more each). Any thoughts between the two? How are the grooves and the feel of the Scor wedges? Thanks.

The best thing I can say about SCOR wedges is their consistency. Also a great feel to them, very forgiving wedge for its compact size. Can't speak for the MD2s.

They aren't the best feeling clubs out there, but they perform very well. I still bag the 58, 54, 50 and 46. But I'll probably pull the 46 and 50 out when I get the Cobra Fly z pro's. The sole is pretty versatile for a stock sole. I'd like a little more heel relief, but I don't have too much problem playing any shot around the greens. For that price, they are worth a shot. They are also more forgiving when you hit higher on the face compared to other wedges. I tend to do that from being in the rough so I like that.

I believe SCOR is liquidating most of their wedges through PGA Super Store and their price is $99. I guess everything will have the Ben Hogan name on it now. So.......$79 per wedge directly from the company is a great price.

I'd agree with this, and if you can rate forgiveness in a wedge, these would be tops. I played the MD2s before playing the SCOR wedges and I've found the SCORs to not only be more consistent, but also go further. I'm not sure if the reasoning would be shaft, but that could account for some of it, but not all of it. I'm talking a consistent 10-12 yards on each club.

It's like when I was playing the MD2s, if I hit it harder, it would go higher. With the SCORs, I hit it harder and they go farther.

Moving from the MD2s will be a shock though as they SCOR heads are noticeably smaller than the MD2s are. As noted though, the consistency of the SCORs wins out, in my opinion. I've hit some shots places on the face where the ball didn't deserve to be in play, let alone on the green, but that's where it always seems to end up. MD2s had a little bit more propensity to dig in the bunker as well, so you can get pretty aggressive with the SCORs and not worry about the club burying as the trailing bounce brings it right back up. The V-sole works, and it's legit.

I was playing the same lofts, 52/58, in the MD2s with S400s before making the switch. I have Nippon WV shafts in the SCORs now, the 115 in the 52 and the 125 in the 58.

Have you had issues with them in the past? I'd figure ordering from a company like this, the one thing they'd certainly get right is loft, probably lie as well. I had mine checked along with the rest of my clubs, and they all checked out as I had figured, but I just didn't know if this was a "known issue" with them or not.

One thing is for sure, it better not be an issue when they're under the Hogan brand, every club better be coming in ON POINT when they show up at someone's door.

I ordered the 50, 54, 58 from them. I had noticed the distance gaps were a little screwy when I sent them off to get refinished. I was getting them bent anyway and he checked the lofts. They were 52, 55 and 57. I've heard a few people talk about this being a problem. And honestly, everyone has a problem manufacturing clubs exactly the same every time to the same loft. So yeah, they either better get really good quality control on the new irons or this will probably be a common thing with the Hogans as well.
