2024 Callaway balls

I heard that Callaway’s new Tour ball won’t be the Chrome Soft anymore. Any truth to this, does anyone know what is coming in 2024?

Whatever they call it, I hope it’s like the Chrome Soft X * that I had a sleeve of. Longer than anything I’ve hit, but softer feel than the normal CSX with even more spin around the greens.

Isn't that the one that Rose Zhang games?  Supposed to spin like mother with irons and low spin with driver.

I don’t know what she is using, but it’s FREAKIN’ AWESOME. I got the white sleeve from a friend and have been trying to get more but not had any luck.

Chrome soft just doesn't have the ring to it that ProV1 or TP5 has. And honestly, what does chrome have to do with a golf ball anyway?

I'd assume something like Callaway Apex, Apex X, Apex X LS. Would fall in line with their tour iron nomenclature.

I don't see why they would go away from what appears to be pretty successful branding but anything could happen.  Back in 2021 someone swore that they had inside sources that told them the Chrome Soft line would be discontinued and there would be a new name for the new balls..  That didn't happen.  The Chrome Soft name was kept with updates occurring in 2022 (normal 2 year cycle)..

That was a couple of years ago. I was given info straight from a tour rep but was then told Callaway decided to keep the name as the loyalty to that name was strong and Rahm had come to Callaway specifically for the ball and they didn't want to rebrand after that.. I guess I was just a little too quick on the trigger to try and be first.. It happens. lol

Several months ago someone made this same post, claiming the same thing would happen in 2023. Of course, it didn't. This won't either, but I'll play.  Who told you this and what is the source ? Callaway has invested millions in the CS franchise, why would they roll it up ? U r, correct, they wouldn't...ah, clickbait...

I could care less about the name. I don’t even play the CS. I was just asking if this was actually happening. Sorry I got your nylons or not.

I think you missed the point, which happens when you don't read but react. I asked what is your source, not what ball you played or if you liked the CS name. Try again, just wanted to know where this claim was generated.

It figures ...  I find a good ball for me and it is going away? I tried the CS in 2015 and hated it, felt mushy.  I've been moving around between Bridgestone, Srixon and Titleist/Snell. Decided to game the ProV this season and it oddly felt heavy (not sure that's the right word) to me.  On a whim, grabbed a box of the CS with 360 triple track.  It has played really strong for my game (mid swing speed).  Longer with driver and decent spin/feel around the green. I love the feel with putter.

There are over 45 versions of the Chrome soft on the conforming list. While I have no doubt Jon is using a CSX, I’m curious to what version.

According the the USGA list, the “chrome * soft X” is Callaways sauciest ball.

Well. I know there is a more “saucy” ball in the CSX star. At least on paper for Callaway.

The CSX * is the best ball I’ve ever played. Length of the CS X LS, but with a softer feel and TONS of spin off the irons and wedges. I’m hoping the new release is that ball.

While it's pretty clear that they do have some tour only offerings, that's not the primary reason for the large number of listings.  Like most of the big OEM's they keep their older models on the list even if they aren't available through retail any longer.   There are separate entries on the list for each different color.  There are separate entries for triple track vs non-triple track even if the balls are the same color as the markings are different.  Also, that total includes Chrome Soft, Chrome Soft X, and Chrome Soft X LS.  51 total entries currently on the list.
