2024 Callaway balls

GC70

Recommended Posts

I am a -PRO V1X player, that said, I've played the Srixon Diamond it is impressive, two weekends ago I was at Disney's LBV course for a tournament, they gave us TP5Xs and I have to say I was even more impressed, long off the Tee, spinning great with approach shots and soft with short chip and pitch shots around the green and not to mention firm but not clicky off the putter, again, the -PRO V1X (for me) is the perfect ball, but I have to say those are great replacements if needed...I will also add that I played CSX and CSXLS (Callaway guy here), the CSX is great as well perhaps too soft for my liking (just preference here), the LS is almost too firm, I agree that it is longer and spinnier than the BX and perhaps the Srixon Diamond, the -PRO V1X just does everything I like from a ball perfomance perspective...all of the above mentioned are great golf balls no doubt, in the end it comes down to what work best for our swing, just my .02, thanks guys.

I remain in the "I'll believe when I see it camp" regarding a name change. Sure those of us who participate in forums like these know that few (likely zero) pros play the standard Chrome Soft ball but keeping the standard Chrome Soft in the lineup and adding the word "Tour" to the other balls is basically saying to the entire golf world that the Chrome Soft isn't a tour ball and that seems like an odd decision to me.

There are many on tour that play Chrome Soft X and some that play X LS, but is there one pro, whether LPGA or pga that plays Chrome Soft?  I think the distinction makes sense if it's not a "tour" validated ball.

Are they getting rid of Truvis?

Not much use of Truvis (or yellow) on Tour so if Truvis continues it’ll be added to the USGA list closer to release of the new ball line up in January 2024.

Truvis balls are considered logo balls and don't have separate entries on the conforming list.  A Truvis ball with white as the base color is considered the same as an all white ball.

Why are they not making yellow in the new balls? Same thing I always questioned about Srixon not making the diamond in yellow. Such great balls but not in yellow? I don't get it

I think they are just making available the models their tour staff use. This allows their tour staff to get the ball in play prior to the season taking off. Aside from that, think OEM’s have to draw the line. Sometimes it’s not worth the extra SKU’s to offer yellow.

I would not assume that just because there aren't yellow versions of the balls on the list now that that means they won't be there eventually.

They are on the latest conforming list.  Four balls available in white and white with triple track.  No yellow.

Chrome Tour

Chrome Tour Dot symbol  (right dot?)

Chrome Tour X

Chrome Tour X +

Pretty sure the Dot is a slightly lower spin version of the Tour, and the + is a higher spinning version of the X. Also pretty sure the Dot and + are "tour only" pieces.

I have a sleeve of the new X, but haven't tested it due to my swing feeling like an unfolding lawn chair for the past several weeks.

Ball fitting for the new stuff is going to be a major emphasis point at fitting events for Callaway this year. Sales staff all got to test the new balls at their national meeting for the '24 product, and the results were universally compelling.

I found one in the wild last weekend.  Top is the Chrome Tour and honestly took me some google searching and other forum questions before leading me here to find this thread as I thought it was a refinished golf ball or an old model.

Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X is the name and they claim faster speeds. I’ve seen it he branding and it’s definitely a change. Claiming they’ll get a lot ProV1 guys but we shall see! Hard to imagine they’d get a large switch on tour.

Looks like that’s the case. Chrome Tour will be the closest option in the new line.

No left dash type ball since the original LS.

It's possible one of the balls with an additional marking (Tour dot, Tour X plus) might fill that void but I haven't heard any details on what those balls are or if they will be available through retail.

Edit: Nvm - just seeing that you were responding to someone who had some insight into the additional balls.
