2024 Callaway balls

The three balls are not really comparable models by design intent, so it's an odd test in that way. Mikey's feel preferences are all over the place in the video; quite funny as is the background music.

That said, CT hangs with the other two off the driver despite being softer in the core department; also gives up nothing in the partial wedge test. Nice to see CT also doing exactly what it's meant to do off the full wedge and 7 iron. Also, notably tighter standard deviations from the CT than the other two throughout.

Bit of an odd comparison I agree. As a long time V1x player, I assumed I should try the CTX not the CT. I don’t think the CT would spin enough for me with the irons.

Yes, CTX is the first one I'd suggest testing. Biggest difference between CTX and V1X is that the V1X aero package generates ever so slightly more lift (and consequently, drag). Ballnamic's data clearly shows that difference, subtle though it is. Apart from that, CTX and V1X are practically clones of each other.

Watching this video confirms everything I've been saying about "feel" with Chrome Tour.   I thought when I first tested it was the more firm out of CT and CTX.  Mikey says it and Ian goes "huh, really??" 😂

Is it just me that thinks it doesn’t make sense that they tested the CT vs TP5x and Pro V1X. They should have tested CTX vs those balls right??

I haven’t checked yet, but are CT and CTX data loaded into Balnamic yet?

I thought the exact same thing.  It did its job in that it was lower spinning.  Didn't help that Mikey was wearing out the high heel during his driver CT testing.  No ball can survive there for long hahaha

Should have probably been normal TP5 as well. the TP5x is quite low spin, and even less if it's the new 2024 according to Rory in his responses to Ryan Barath from golf.com.

I don’t think so. I contacted them recently since I have a few more submissions and they said look out for an update in March. 20 new balls and they’ll send out an email.

They probably didn't get the new CT and CTX in hand until very recently, and their testing requires dead calm conditions outside on their range in the Phoenix valley.

Yeah the test should have been Pro V1, CT, and TP5x then the other should have been TP5, Pro V1X, and CTX. TXG are normally pretty good, but this ball test was a bit of head scratcher. Almost like a Sesame Street episode of “one of these things is not like the other one”….

Agreed! Bit strange for sure. Was just a weird selection for Mike's game it seemed. But no one gets everything right.

Sometimes you have to chalk it up to "well, he tried"

Got the new TP5X and BX to go head to head with CTX/CT.  I saw great things out of CT today (on firm dormant Bermuda)  I now have NO idea what ball I will play for 24 🤔

Is there really any point to these indoor golf ball tests, or really any golf ball test using a GC quad? There is a reason why Ballnamic (Ping) and MGS do outdoor tests with trackman to measure full flight. Aerodynamics are a big deal with golf balls and there is no way you can figure out those (significant) differences indoor.

It’s better than nothing, but certainly not ideal for the reasons you mention.

Very interested to see these outdoors! Everyone is getting more ball speed with the CT balls.

we can confirm that CT is V1 and CTX is V1X right

Can confirm.  Though, CT in my testing is still lower spinning than V1, 200 rpms give or take.

Played the CT today, solid ball.  Greens I played today were kinda soft but rolled good, this ball easily stopped.  Hit a few 6 irons that didn’t go more than a few feet.  I like the way it feels, I felt like it’s was softer than a PV1x but not as soft as the pv1.  I didn’t hit the driver real good today but when I did, I got good distance out of it, my problem has been wanting more spin/height out of my driver but good drives today were plenty high with this ball.  Very consistent distances out of my irons.  Played the round with 1 ball and it looks like I could use it again.  Had 3 doubles in my first for holes so wasn’t too happy with anything to start but *1 the rest of the way so left me with a good feeling. Birdie on 18 keeps you coming back.

I like the left dash comparisons as I love the results of the left dash but can’t stand to putt with them.   Feel like rocks to me. I can’t seem to adjust to the feel and crush every putt.

just bought some new AVX to give them a go.

I played the Chrome Tour today. My usual ball is the Chrome Soft X LS. The CT is very similar. I didn't see any difference off the irons, distance wise. I did hit a lot of ball close to the pin today, but I doubt that had anything to do with the ball (but how do you know, right?).

Off the tee, I hit some balls that were longer, and a couple that were much shorter than I would have expected.

After one round, I honestly don't think this is as good for me as the LS.

I had the same findings. I really like the LS and tried the new Tour and didn’t like it. I didn’t hit any side by side but it was strange, it felt short to me. First hole and first wedge shot left a pretty good mark on it, which I was kinda use to with the LS as well. After about the 7th hole and coming up short a few times on drives and approaches I switched to a prov1 and immediately seemed to get my old distances back. Also realized how much better the durability is on the prov1, played the rest of the round with the same ball with lots of wedges and not hardly a make on it.
