#Releasetheputter - The Method Appreciation and Info Thread - (NO BST)

I just sent off my Method Matter B2-05 to BOS to get a refinish done. Took the weights and insert out myself. Going to have them strip the black finish, and put a 2X Fools Gold brown finish on it. Haven’t decided if I’m going with the original insert or one of the copper aftermarket ones. I also have the copper weights for it in case I want to make it heavier. Should be a cool putter once I have it back.

On the Origin, what models were they? There was B1-01, B2-02, 04 (long neck) 07 (flow), and 14 (mid slant). Any I'm missing?

Β

Here are all the Origins I’m aware of as, at one point, I’ve owned all of them:

B1-01 - stock plumbers neck

B1-04 - mid slant neck

B1-14 - flow neck

B1-05 - long slant neck

B2-01 - stock plumbers neck

B2-04 - mid slant neck

B2-07 - short slant neck

B2-05 - long slant neck

Β

Additionally, there have been some unique Method Matters that weren’t available at retail.

B1-01 - stock plumbers neck

B1-04 - mid slant neck

B1-05 - long slant neck

B2-04 - mid slant neck

B2-07 - short slant neck

Β

It’s hard for me to believe that at one point or another, I’ve owned all of these. Still gaming my Origin B2-05’s. Never putted better.

Picked up a 38 B1-01 Origin to put against my standard 35 B1-01 Origin. First thing I did was move the weight much lower in the grip, right where I grip the club actually. Tremendous difference in feel after that. Now to take it to the green and see how it pans out.
I just got the same 38” B1-01 I plan on making it into a 32” putter. I got it specifically for the head weight.

Yeah, if the counterflex option doesn’t pan out, I’ll have someone pull the shaft and put in a 35” black out shaft and test the heavier head weight against the stock option.

Β

I pulled a counterflex b2-01 and installed a shaft to play at 33" with a countercore super stroke grip. Swing weight is right at D6 and feels great. That blade with a 368g weight is awesome.

Re-gripped my RORS with a Winn 1.18....so nice.

Β

Are these RORS putters still selling for 250?

I’m interested in knowing this too. I have a still in plastic Origin Rors with the limited ed box I’m debating gaming or keeping new.

I had been using an Origin B2-01 since last July, but my putting wasn't doing very good at the moment, so I decided to break out my old Method Matter B2-01. This one is lighter, has a black shaft, and the sight line is blacked out, so it gives me a different look and feel. I had forgotten how much I like this putter. I had only 30 putts, which is my lowest ever and my putting was much better overall. That helped propel me to breaking 90 (with 89, big deal for me currently) on a quite difficult course IMO. Its really too bad Nike had to quit making clubs.

Β

Here are some pics of her. I think the wear on the finish adds character.

Thanks. I’ve done it a few times before, but this was on a harder and longer course than I generally play.

G'day guys, just bought this putter off the bay after buying a brand new Rory 006 in the collectors box just a week prior! Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this putter or who it was made for? I think the first two letters of the serial number are the players initials but I can't think of who! Cheers

Β

Super rare find not many of that model made!!! TB about 99.9% of the time stood for Tour Bag which would be carried around on the tour van for players to test and then order there putter. The putter model was know as the Watstan it was brought to life to meet the needs of Nick Watney and Kyle Stanley

Love this thread.

Β

Picked up an Origin B2-01 and a 006 Prototype. Played the Origin last weekend and didn't leave a single putt short. Will most likely keep the 006 Prototype as my gamer.

Β

Unfortunately, the Origin delivered was the Counterflex version.

Β

Can anyone provide insight as to the hosel size of B2-01 Counterflex? Looking to get it to a standard length putter.

Β

Thanks!

I bought a counterflex Origin and changed the shaft to a standard. It's a .370 tip.

Thinking about putting a UST Frequency Filtered shaft in each.

I don’t have personal experience with the 006 so I can’t say for sure. It’s probably .370. My Method Matter was also a .370 so that seems to be what Nike used.

Is anyone still having luck finding method putters around (other than Dallas golf)? Was in a store the other day and picked up a used Drone 2.0 38 Counterbalance and just loved almost everything about it but it was really beat to hell. Haven't had any luck finding another one but figured this would be the place. Any insight appreciated.

I saw a few posts saying that the weight ports on the Method Matter are cemented in. I really want to insert the matching copper screws with the copper insert from Bigfootgolf.

Β

Does anyone age any experiences or successes in the removal? Also how challenging is installing the insert for a relatively inexperienced DIYER.

Β

Also for those who have done this insert change how has it affected the feel and roll?

I was able to get the weights out of my Method Matter for the refinish job I posted previously. First I removed the insert by carefully heating and using a razor blade scrapper to pry the insert out without damaging the putter or insert. After I got it out, I heated the weights with my heat gun and using the Bigfootgolf wrench was able to get them out. It was tough as the wrench slips easily and the cement they use didn't want to let loose. Good luck.
