Well, I just ordered the Nike Method M 003w Prototype Putter "The Oven" 34" from Dallas Golf for $144 shipped. Will take pics when it comes in.

The noticeable differences also you can see the swoosh on the face of the oven milled is sharper than factory swoosh.

Ahh.. So the 001 (shaped like a 006) that I have is actually from a factory in China too? Does that make it slightly less "Oven Baked"?

What's the deal with the origin methods? I have a B1-14 which I believe isn't retail. It's probably my favorite putter.

I've just agreed to buy a Method 001 with tungsten in the heel and toe (like the 004 I posted earlier). It looks pretty unique as it has a dot sight and 2 flange lines which "frame" the ball, looking forward to getting it tomorrow.

 

I believe all of these non-retail origins are Tour Stock or prototypes for retail releases that would have been, but I don't believe that they were actually made at the Oven. Dallas Golf got the Origins and the 001/006/etc from the same inventory liquidation from the Oven. Prater definitely has some better insight on that than me though ha

 

There were a hand full prototype billet origins made at the oven. Which were used for testing and work with Tiger and Rory for feed back on design, and both had billet final products. The non retail origins were our tour stock we had both head shapes (B1 B2) without alignment aids so we could customize to the players needs and with 4 different hozel configurations. Short sweep is the /07, Long neck /05, Slant neck /04, Plumber neck /01 all are factory product and it looks like Dallas golf got a lot of what was left

Very nice! How's the toe flow on that? What cover did you get? Is there a serial number on the neck?

I'm very tempted to get one like it myself, but UK delivery and customs basically double the price. B1-14 is my favourite putter.

I have the kit, but the problem is that with retail putters the weights are glued in. Another problem is that the tool's prongs are very very fragile. I nearly broke it when I tried with a retail putter. It's the tour issue models that aren't glued.

 

An easier option would be get yourself a counterflex model and reshaft it. I got one and it was 362g.

What type of toe hang would you expect with the 14 hosel on the Origin? I saw Prater mention a double S earlier but I’m curious as to how much would we be talking with that setup.

It's a shade more than that on the B2-01/B1-01. Where as I believe the B2-07 is quite a bit more toe-y

I know we're not a large market but man I'm so disappointed they didn't make more left handed options. Really frustrating to see all these cool styles only for right handed golfers...

I picked up an Origin B1-05 last year, and am really liking it so far.

 

Does anyone have any experience with the inserts drying out or cracking? Any preventative measures I should take to make sure the putter lasts? I know to keep it away from harsh chemicals. Will avoid leaving it out in direct sunlight as well. Sorry if this has been brought up.

Congrats. It's a lovely putter. My favourite as I said. The origin is a bit on the firm side, but it seems to work for me.

Yep. Deep Engraved 006 and the custom serial number on the side. That is a true Oven putter.
