MD/VA/DC Golfers - Ten Seconds or Less

Not much of a fitter or anything, but what loft are you playing in the driver? Do you think more loft would help out and get more carry? Seems like when you hit down with the 4-wood, you're getting much better launch/spin numbers than the driver. Part of that could be location of strike or it could be the driver.

 

Have a 12* R15, and it's actually turned up a bit. Been toying with it a little going up and down on the loft. The ball looks and feels nice, but I get up there and it's just 20 yards short of where I would expect a crushed ball to be. The one I hit today on #8 was as good as I can hit it and it was 230. My 4-wood shots that were less than perfect were that distance, and I've hit some 7-woods in the 220 range the last few days.

 

In fact, here are my woods off the tee the last 3 rounds on Game Golf. Limiting it to that because that's since the Monte clinic, and I haven't had the 4-wood back in play for much longer than that. Edit: the longest drive is one that actually hit the cart path, so toss that one out even.

Any particular reason for the recommendation? I'm still playing the fairway shafts you recommended to me 2-3 years ago.

Because it follows what DC said about center of gravity, it's pretty forgiving and it's got a great reputation as an all-around driver. CG charts put it right near a G30 in that regard.

 

Looks good, cheap, and adjusts up to 12 degrees and has draw settings if you like that. Nothing on the bottom to worry about adjusting.

Quit being a dingus and get fit, sully. You don't have to spend $150 to do it, either. Every major OEM has a fitting day at Olney Golf Park in the next 2-3 weeks. Titleist, TaylorMade, PING, and Callaway are all scheduled in the next couple weeks. They don't usually charge. Go to one or more of those.

Though I'll also probably go to a Callaway demo whenever Tex does one close. The Cobra was just darn cheap. I'll probably go see Buddah if that doesn't work out. Then buy more clubs sight unseen. Then go back to the R15 for some desperation rounds.

Got to the course hoping to sneak in 18. Due to how packed the course was it looked like I was only gonna get the front in.

 

I was playing the course where I've scored four and five over on the back several times but the front has always been full of blowups leading to 10 over finishes on the front.

 

Well, today I was determined to end that pattern. I finished five over with no OB shots and one three putt. I missed three putts under three feet though (two were under two foot and for birdie). No flubbed chips. Played four iron off the tee of all par four and par fives.

 

Feeling great right now. Hope everyone else played well!

I will say City had 3 great saves on the first 5 holes, and a great 2 putt and a birdie stuffed in there, too. I left after tee shot on 9. Wish I could have stuck around to see the rest of that round.

Unbelievable day at Blue Mash this afternoon with GregH. Such a good guy to play golf with.

 

I was giving him 3 strokes (holes 1, 3 & 16). After coming in hot to the course, I went 3DN after 3. Clawed back to 1DN through 6... Then promptly lost 7 & 9, back to 3Dn.

 

Won 10-12, halved 13 and won 14 to go 1UP. Greg bounces back and wins 15 with an excellent par. I smashed the stick DFC from 50 feet on 16 to save par and halve the hole. Greg wins 17 when I dump it short in the water. Got ugly on 18 green, and we halved the match.

 

Blood on 14/18 holes. So wild. Greg is striping it off the tee right now. Long with his irons. Soft hands around the green. So good. I'm am very envious of his tempo. Smooth... An the ball goes a long way.

 

Never had a match quite like this. 3DN at two separate times. Just a s-show off the tee and on the greens for me early, came on late. Ball was flying stupid far (170 yard 8i carry, laser verified). Hard as F greens, ridiculous pin placements.

 

Blue Mash is in championship shape. It's an asskicker, and yet... It was so much easier than WM was last Saturday.

 

Can't wait to play with Greg again, such a chill dude.

I would like to get a crack at BM in dry and fast conditions. I always play that place in damp and cold weather. Sounds like a fun match.
