spent a couple hours practicing today. I love practicing. In some ways I prefer practicing to playing.

in some ways, yes. I find practicing very meditative and relaxing and I enjoy the process. It's still in service to playing though.

 

I've tried to articulate my original point like 100x and you just did it PERFECTLY.

 

I' took up golf when I found clubs in my grandfathers basement and as I was learning I didn't have anyone to play with. I just showed up as a 17 year old single and played with whoever I was paired with at northwest. I played for the challenge and the joy I got from getting better. While my circumstances have changed, fundamentally i still play for the same reasons. I think that has a lot to do with my love for practicing.

Putting myself on a golf hiatus for a couple weeks. Last 3 weeks have developed a pain in my left hand. Hoping it's just overuse and that a couple weeks of rest will help.

 

Dang. I'm on self-imposed hiatus as well. Where is the pain?

 

"Bottom" of my left hand (think ring finger and pinkie, extended back towards wrist. Hurts a little bit to grip, hurts a lot to release the club. Really hurts if I put my hand out in front of me and push my ring finger toward the middle finger.

 

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go insane trying to go two weeks without hitting balls, or even chipping.

I didn't hear you mention putting? I've had exactly that before. Just seemed to magically go away without even too much rest.

80 today. Couple of back to back 3 jacks on the front were frustrating. But, they had the pins in crazy places. Big tournament down there so it was like a greenkeepers revenge setup. Rick can back me up on that. Had back to back chip ins on the back and just missed by 2" a third. 38 coming home so definitely something to build on. Bad side, I think I hit 3 fairways. Most were within 5 yards, so not trbl, but still need to find the short stuff. Finally put a move on one on 18 and poked it by the long hitter of the club by 25 yards. Had 65 to the center on Seaside.

played PB Dye today with Andy and two other buddies. Used the free round we got at the Turkey Shoot last year. Course was in pretty good shape, greens were slow, maybe a 8 or 9 but some really really hat pin locations. A few that i have never seen before there. shot a 43-46, with one triple and four doubles.

 

Four more rounds to go before baby #2 comes along end of this month.

I'm such a mental sh&@)t show right now...completely matching how bad my game is. The bads just jumped on me at WM last Saturday and they continue to hang around. Got run over by Halcyan today at Pine Ridge 8&6 in our regional match, and mentally I could never get into it. Started on one when I accidentally tapped the ball with my putter when I was lining up my putt and took a penalty losing the hole. Was in my pocket on #2 after hooking the ball left then not being able to find it. Really just done at that point and my frustration level only increased the rest of the day. Couldn't have been done and off the course quick enough.....was about to come unglued and didn't want to totally show my Word not allowed on the course...though City, immediately following the epic beatdown Halcyan put on me, calls for a new 6 hole match with he and I playing meatmike and Halcyan. That was a wise decision...in the Twilight Zone!!

 

Not sure the thought process that all of a sudden after 12 disastrous holes that I would get it together for the final 6. Even after my first objection to the match, City...doing a not so good Knute Rockne impersonation...goes on a motivational speech/tirade on the 13th tee. I was so inspired the tee shot went high...left...and lost. In my pocket again. Really was looking forward to the next 5 holes of perpetuating the bad swing/thought pattern I was in.

 

Congrats again to Halcyan, he played very well and deserved to win.

 

Quickly becoming one of the most frustrating years of golf for me...and it's only June. Not sure my head is in a place to play tourney/competitive golf for a while. Too many demons rolling around up there right now. Even my last lesson this week and practice session on Friday were intolerable...just not having any fun with it, which is totally on me.

Played yesterday an shot 81. Felt like I hit the ball better then the score. I have been doing that in the last couple of rounds. Went to Clifton at 5:30 and teed off with the son. I had 16 pars, 1 birdie and a double for a one over round. Hit the ball at the target all day except on #5 where I got a little cocky made a double. Birdied the next hole and then all pars. Really liking the Apex irons after I did a little loft corrections.
