MD/VA/DC Golfers - Ten Seconds or Less

I'm guessing they're bound to footwear and apparel, but are free to go to whatever company they choose for equipment. I'm interested to see where they go with in terms of clubs. Im guessing both go to Titleist or maybe PXG? I'm sure companies are willing to pay good money for either one of them.

I wonder if Nike broke that out in their contracts. E.g. $10 mil for gear, $15 mil for apparel, but only if Nike is in those businesses. Probably has all sorts of contingencies for that sort of thing. But if not, Rory will get a sweet fat extra contract from some other equipment manufacturer to go on top of his Nike one.

Wow, just caught up on the Nike news. This is the last move needed before Tiger gets some Turbulators in his life (with some Mizuno irons?). I can see McIlroy going back to Titleist as well but curious when it all will take effect. Hopefully you guys can find subs or re-juggle for tomorrow..I've got another one of these free neighborhood concerts that turns the whole place into a circus and can't be returning at 9pm without a parking death wish. After Red Tee I couldn't park my car until 9:30.

 

I got out for a practice round today and things were much improved after going back to some old notes. A bunch of left arm parallel swings on the range helped to level out my right shoulder which was crashing down steep and causing a bunch of flippy floppies. The short game was on to start, which helped because I couldn't hit a green worth a damn. On 4 I hit a nice draw heading at the right front which hit a sprinkler head and bounced all the way over the green.

 

The course has had a rough couple of weeks. The heat wave coincided with a couple of irrigation pipe leaks and some patches of fairway suffered.THEN the heavy rains came and muddied those thin areas into more stress. Some holes look perfect, the greens are fantastic, but we've got a bunch of GUR out there and mudballs all through the green.

Finally getting down to check out Cannon Ridge today, really looking forward to it as it was one of my favorite tracks when it was open. Heard that conditions are improving but I'm not getting my hopes up too much.

1) I never really considered Nike to be IN the equipment business. Serious. I could never hit a Nike club. If you young guys don't understand this feeling, maybe wonder how you'd feel if New Balance started making golf clubs in 10 years.

4) Went out for 9 at Hobbits yesterday. Still disappoint in condition. Now the rough is getting burnt out, and the greens are just waterlogged. And slow. I left a 40 foot downhill putt on 9 15 feet short yesterday. On 9. After I'd played 8 holes and gotten used to the speed of the greens, and just hit a 20 foot down hill putt on 8 to a foot. I can't figure out what's going on out there.

 

5) That's 4 sort-of salty things. I'm not really that salty today. Looking forward to busting out of work and playing and having a nice 18 hole conversation with Kent. Weather is looking PURRFECT. Got my Masters Bucket reh-to-go. Brought a pipe I've never golfed with. Let's do it.
