Playing early morning or afternoon?

First off whenever possible

for my last 2 rounds I have been standing on the 1st tee at 5.10am with an empty course in front of me and the green keepers doing their jobs. its bliss as I can take my time, hit 2 or 3 balls and spend time practicing my chipping and putting. I am home by 9.30 after having a coffee at the club so I get the whole day to do what my o/h and the kids want!

At my home course, I like playing twilight. The course is empty and I love the way the course looks in the evening, so I'll tee off around 7 in the summer and finish when it gets dark at 10 or so. Hard to play in the winter because it's dark at 4:30 and I'm still at work, usually.

Taking a golf trip later this summer and our tee times are mid-morning so we have time to eat a leisurely breakfast and warm up for an hour or so. I think mid-morning is a pretty great time to play because of that, but my job makes that next to impossible.

Late afternoon. Finishing up 18 as the sun is setting always feels like the perfect ending to the day.

Mornings for me, especially during May-September when temps can be well over 100F in the afternoon.

Best times for me, where I play:
Public course - tee off between 7 and 9 am. Pace is still good at that time, and most of the clueless slugs tend to avoid playing that early.
Private course - tee off mid afternoon. A single or twosome can play 18 holes without catching anyone.

As early as they will let me tee off. I typically feel the best of the day first thing in the morning.
