07 Taylor Made putters

Wow!
Has anyone used this putter. We had a Golfsmith open in Indy finally and I got to try all the top putters that Golf Galaxy doesn't carry. (Camreons, black Swrils, Redwoods...)

The new Taylor Mades with the AGSI+ face is great feel, was wondering what everyone else thought about the putters.

I just wish they would make it in the Maranello 8-01 style again.

Cobra Fly Z, Fubuki
Cobra Fly Z 3 wood
18 Cobra DWS
PING Rapture Hy 21
PING G series 5-pw

Take a look at the following thread for a few reviews:

Demolitionman summed it up pretty well...

I messed around with them for 30 minutes on the practice green over the weekend. They were just OK. Not a bad putter, but nothing to jump out and get me to think for a second of switching.

I am not sold on the technology of more RPMs/better forward roll as the determining factor of what putter I use. Personally, putting is the one part of golf that is most dependent on feel, confidence, and consistency. It's been a long time since I have seen a putter that has so much skid as to render the putter a liability. And it's very rare that I get to putt on tour quality greens like you see on TV where a few RPMs may (repeat, MAY) be the difference between a top 10 or not on tour. So other factors are going to have just as much influence on what putter I use than something like AGSI+.

Perhaps the biggest factors are appearance and feel/sound. If I don't like the looks of the putter at address, then I won't feel confident, there will be too many distractions. For example, Cameron Futura was an instant failure for me. While the MOI aspect of it would be beneficial, the appearance and the way it had to be set just right to square the face was a killer. As far as the new Rossas....the imola and daytona look okay at address, no real distractions.

As far as feel is concerned, I felt like the new Rossas needed a little more punch to them to get the ball where you wanted it on longer putts. The insert has decent feel, the sound a little clicky, but not too big a deal. Again, nothing to knock on these putters, but nothing that screams 'must have'. The imola felt a little lite, I was thinking a strip or two of lead tape was needed. The daytona felt a little better although the framing at address could use a little bulk/heft to it. For example, the bumpers and appearance at address of the Odyssey Blacks and Cameron Newports look more solid. Maybe it's the black paint scheme, it seems to hide the Rossa's curves.

If I were to use a Rossa, I would go back to the CGB models, those feel much better.

Wow, Golf Galaxy near you must be a small store..

We don't have Golf Smith in Cincinnati, but Golf Galaxy here carry everything you mentioned..

TM seems to have lot of bling bling for my liking..

I agree! I have never been to a golf galaxy that didn't have camerons, black swirls, or redwoods. Sounds like your GG is weak..... :bigwhack:

Yes our Golf Galaxy is weak, they did get some Black Swrils, but were locked in a case! Plus the putting green is very small, maybe two people can put at one time.

Golfsmith had all the putters out to try, everything was there and very large putting green. Plus a large hitting area 5-6 station and tons of demo clubs.

The Golf Galaxy at Castleton does have Camerons and Redwoods, they just keep them in the back. You just have to ask for them. I just bought a Redwood there yesterday.

The Cincy GG's still don't have the AGSI+. I freaking call everyday. You think they'd get sick of me and get me one! Looks like I'll drive to Indy! At $3.20/gallon a custom Mills would be cheaper.

I have yet to see these here so far but the Modena model interests me from pics I have seen. I definitely don't need another putter but you never know, pricing is good, it all comes down to the feel and consistency, demo soon as they become available in Canada.

I personally think our GG in Indpls sucks. They have everything, but you have to ask and then you feel like you're a bother to them. The one in Pittsburgh on the other hand is wonderful......most things are on display, even the used Camerons, though they also keep some in the back, but are more than willing to show you what they have.

I saw them at one of the newest golftowns last weekend, didnt have enough time to give them a real test but they were there.
