Krank Golf Unveils New Adjustable Driver for 2016

I guess if you are in the long drive world then Krank is a household name but many aren't as familiar with the company. I see they have a new fully adjustable driver coming this year and thought maybe others might be interested. Not a bad lookng driver!

Don't get me wrong, I love Krank golf and everything they do, but to call the "100%" adjustable is a bunch of BS. You can adjust the loft +/- 1°. That isn't "100%" adjustable.

 

Fact is nothing is 100% adjustable, but this would be about the least adjustable of the adjustable drivers on the market.

On a whim, I bought the new Krank Formula 6 a week before they "launched" this new 6.5, unfortunately no one informed me there was a new head coming.

Good news is, at least so far, indoor sim. testing is showing the Krank Formula 6 is out performing my current gamer G30-Oban Kiyoshi HB. It also out performed Callaway XR 16 Pro, and XR 16 (both shafted with Fuji 661 TS). Krank consistently had faster ball speeds, longer carry and longer total dist. with acceptable mishits and shot dispersion. It also felt the best.

 

I will say the XR looked friendlier and more forgiving, Krank looks smaller and deeper and less stable, but at least so far, indoors, dispersion was good to great and similar to the XR.

 

Formula 6 was $349 head only, hand picked at 9.25*, hotmelted with a slight heel bias, 45.5" D3. with the new Mitsubishi Kuro XM 60 stiff shaft. Promising indoor data will see what it does on the course.

I had a 9* F6. Shafted it with a kiyoshi white. Nice smooth feel, excellent response , super straight ball flight. But overall distance just wasn't there for me with that combo. I can't warrant spending that kind of money on a club with the resale value on these being as low they tend to be. I picked up a krank rage for cheap & I'm not seeing much reason to buy the F6 again.

It appears to be the F6 with loft adjustment +-1* the big benefit for LDers is you can get another adapter to use with another shaft,,the gives some options for competing and doesn't break the bank. Krank had to do this to as the Cally XRLD does the same,,A lot of guys in warm up with two heads and 4 shafts have great options for conditions and feel,,,without buying 4 complete drivers. I hit the F6 the CHS is up a few mph ,,there isn't that moose gun sound anymore it is a great head, go on www.incepta.ca a lot of Krank information and prices there

Well I've had my 6.5 for a little over a month now and have won 3 LD's in Corporate events. Usually that isn't saying much as I usually win the LD in these events. However, I've rarely heard so many comments about where my drive ended and being accused of cheating - " Probably using Illegal Balls or one of those illegal long drive drivers" from the guys in the clubhouse.

 

In one event the wind was 15 - 20 mph straight on head wind.. I had my driver down - 1 so 6.5 Ish and rolled it past 300 with the next closest back at 250 ish.

 

My #'s F6.5 @ 7.5 Deg. 112 - 116 CS 165+ BS Spin low 2000's X-Flex Inertia Tour Light Shaft 46" ball off left Big Toe, hit thru 8 - 2 O'clock for full extension results in a piercing straight Ball Flight most can't even pick up If not standing behind or near the Tee.

 

I have the Fuji FlyWire XX in 48" but find it too difficult to control, it's not the combination, it's that I haven't figured out Tee Location, Swing Path, Tee Height Etc. to fine tune it. When I do, there will be fights in the ClubHouse.....

 

I'm 53 YO and am as flexible as Gumby but lost considerable CHS over the years. I have a buddy gaming the TM M1 Speeder 661 in X and swings high 118 - 120's... higher launch, faster ball speed, longer carry and I'm consistently inside him - Much to his frustration...

 

Speaking with Vinny@Krank it took returning the Tour Shaft for the Tour Light and several calls to really dial this in as my go to Driver but I'm 99% sure I'll never even entertain hitting anything else.

 

My biggest complaint with the Big Box Drivers is a replacement version every 6 months demolishing any hope of resale for past versions. Krank does NOT support this Business Model whatsoever, and for that reason alone I'd pay more even though I didn't.

Looks like the lower lofted heads were returned for QA reasons Lance wouldn't approve them,,I have a 7.5 on its way,,I currently been back and fourth a bit with a few heads ,,brute 5.5* I have the most control and lowest spin,,callaway xhot highest CHS 133mph but ball speed on center hits is the Krank F5 if I can maintain a 190mph I will give quailfing go,,as a senior. With the annoucment of Worlds for LD this year ,,expect Kranks to sell out quick,, I also do not hit a full 50" Driver and only 1 x shaft tipped 1/2" seems to give me a stable and controllable shaft ,,at 65grams. But Krank is a very small company in a big markert, but they have nailed down the technical side of ball speed.

IN the Golf world its on mid size as they do push out good amounts of volume from what I hear, and the LD scene even againts Cally and Cobra and Adams they still beat them out of the water as far as sales and used heads went in the sport. What low lofts got returned?

5.5* +- 1* was told forging wasn't perfect,,I noticed as well first LD event this year no one had the 6.5 just F6 or F5,,,I still see them as a small company in a big market,but they do a very good job, and I don't like but do understand the pre-order ,,you should have product to ship ,,not take orders to get product.

Try Sellingers Power Golf a bit cheaper then at Krank,, I have hit mine and it is a bit more forgiving then the F5 , very nice feel on center hits , the adjustability is Ok but for me the option for another shaft is great. Doesn't sound like the F5 , I expected with the speed channels I would be a bit faster but , still at 132 134 with both, spin was 2100-2500 ,,and ball speed ES12 190-194 ,,, I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this driver,,
