for all you guys wanting a set of his irons - he did an interview earlier this year saying they cost £20,000 to hand mill. and he plays s in his woods and x in irons - it was in a golf mag this month

FYI... anyone looking to get one of the headcovers is more than welcome to check on ianpoulterdesign.com. I got one for myself last Christmas and with shipping from Europe, it cost me almost $50. Worth it to me since he's my favorite golfer, but I ordered the original one with the black visor... wish I would have waited and seen the pink one.

 

Side note... has anyone seen a website or anything that actually has price listings and stocks his clothing line here in the states? I've sent a couple emails asking the "stockists here in the states to pass along any info but have not gotten any replies. Funkygolfgear.com doesn't have anything listed as of yet... any leads would be much appreciated.

I see the pic above with 2-3 Camerons on IP's bag, I know he has used an Odyssey a good bit of the time and a Rife for a while, does anyone know anything about or have any pictures of what the Camerons that he used look like?

Fairway Styles carries Ian Poulter gear. Have ordered Sligo (Brian Gay's sponsor) stuff from them in the past and was very satisfied with the site/quality. They are based in VA and ship out pretty much the same day.

Did anybody else happen to notice the putter Poulter is using this week at the Barclay's? I was watching on TV and they had a good angle DTL of him putting and he was definitely using one of the Rife blades, couldn't tell if it was the Cayman or the IBF Aussie silver but I think it's the Aussie. I could hardly believe it because I've yet to see a PGA tour player with a Rife and have always wondered why since they are so popular on other tours and just awesome putters IMO, but I had it on DVR and rewound it and there was no doubting it was a Rife. Interestingly enough, I looked on his website at his clubs and the only club in his bag he doesn't list on his site is his putter...any ideas here?

it's a rife, he's had it in the bag off and on now for close to a year or so. if you go on ianpoulter.com in the my game section in the ijp tv it shows his clubs in the garage and he has 3 or 4 rifes there

The Grafalloy Blue shaft plays about a half flex, to a full flex stiffer then what is said compared to MOST shaft manufactures. I know this because I played the Blue for 4 years, and when I first got it I had been playing the classic Purple and Gold Proforce 65 stiff flex (a stout shaft as well) prior. When i switched I thought the blue was a little lighter but much stiffer. I started taking lessons and playing full time and developed into a 2 handicap and could really whack my driver, I never thought of going to an X even when most said I should have at the time.

That being said, there is no universal STANDARD for shaft flex, for companies to follow. One company's stiff could play to a reg. flex, and vice versa (as stated above). If you have ever heard of frequency, that is mainly referring to the shafts stiffness on a scale of #'s. (much more consistent and you can see how shafts match up to each other and other brands) Also things such as weight, kickpoint, and torque play a bigger factor in flex and feel.

An example would be my father who plays Reg. Flex in his driver, 3wood and 2 hybrids, but he plays senior flex in his wedges and irons. He does this because the longer clubs help him generate a lil more speed, and with the regular he is in more control for the longer shots (he may loose like 5 yards but hes good at finding a 30yard wide fairway) For his irons its a slower more controlled swing. The shorter shaft and clubs slow the swing down, plus the softer tip in the senior flex give him preferred feel for his irons.

Everyone is different and with all the options, and no STD for shaft manufactures, its all about trying things out and finding what works for you.

Here is a photo of Ian's actual RIFE Aruba which he used to win the WGC Accenture Matchplay Championship yesterday.

I thought he was using a Rife putter in the WGC and pulled his 3 iron and replaced it with a 19* Baffler. I am pretty sure he had a 5 wood and not a 2 iron as well, but I could be wrong.

IIRC, he only carries a 2 iron on very rare occasions - such as for the Open Championship.

The majority of the time, his bag contains two Titleist 906 Series fairway woods and a hybrid. He has a couple of Titleist 909H hybrids which he switches out depending upon what's required, the lofts being analagous to a 2 or 3 iron at 19 and 21 degrees respectively. Carrying the stronger lofted of the two means that he also generally swaps out his 4 iron for a slightly stronger alternative club in order to shore up the yardage gap according to a WITB feature I saw recently.
