Boozy Golf Holidays with the Boys

Just arrived back from a week in Spain with 20 pals. All 40s to 60s with handicaps of 3-20. 5 rounds in Costa Del Sol at Lauro, El Chapperel, Miraflores, Guadalhorce and Torreequebrada. 0f the 20 about 10 of us got by on 2-4 hours sleep per night and it went big drinking night followed by easier drinking night to semi recover. As a rule the drinkers shot 25-30 points and the light drinkers shot 30-35 points.

Overall we had a great time, albeit very tiring.

Is this typical of a golf trip or is it just a UK guys thing?

Superb courses in Spain with very well cared for Green in Spain by the way. El Chapperel, Guadalhorce and Torrequebrada are the best I have ever played.

For half the group it sounds typical of the mid-life crisis set, on a week away from their wives.

Hopefully none of them are returning with any special surprises to pass on to the missus.

I think it's more that we are let off the leash from responsibilities of work and family. Good to get crazy a little and let off some steam. We all got on well, so good memories. We are a bit too old to be boozing that much though. It sure is boring in the room though when the boys are at the bar!

Sounds fun to me and my group would fit right in, let me know the next trip! My guys are all in the late 50's to 70 and love to let it rip. we do it almost every Saturday at our club. Golf, then wives/girlfriends come up for lunch and we have a group of about 20 people drinking for hours. We are well known at the club for our drinking ability.

once you let go of caring about the outcome you enjoy the golf more. After all we were in southern Spain paradise playing these epic flowered courses and we come from rainy Manchester!
