ASK QUESTIONS: Live Q&A with Srixon Golf Balls!

Recommended Posts

Thank you Srixon and GolfWRX for the live Q&A. I have a few questions:

I played the 2015 Z-STAR XV but bounced back and forth between it and the Z-STAR (better feel around the greens). With the new XV, will it feel perform closer to last years Z-STAR or did the Z-STAR get an improvement on distance off the tee (with 105 driver ss).

I know this is about the Z-STAR lineup, but will the Q-STAR be offered in Tour Yellow? Several of my golfing companions play yellow balls but prefer the Q over Z.

Which staff player is the most hands-on with helping to develop a new ball?

Thank you again for your time.

I have been playing the Srixon XVs for several years - even won two club championships playing them. You have a great ball. In Japan, you sell an orange Srixon Z Star. Why won't you sell it in the US? There is no quality tour ball that is orange, and orange is much better than yellow.

Can you at least make them available on the website for US customers?

First off, thank you for producing such a great ball, second, I and many of my fellow WRX'ers absolutely loved the half dozen samplings that were sold in the beginning of the year. After playing i've notice how much softer this years XV is compared to prior generations, is that something that was a focus to create? Did you max out feel while not compromising distance? And if so how will this affect future generations of the XV. thank you for your time.

I've seen many discussions where people claim that the tour yellow version is more resistant to scuffing and other cover damage than the white version of the same ball. Or, that the yellow and white versions feel different. I assume that neither white nor yellow is a natural color of the cover material on either color of ball, so a pigment would have to be added to make the ball the color it is. Would you comment on how the color of the ball is added, how much pigment is added, and whether or not the color has any effect on the feel, durability, or performance of the ball? Thanks for your time!

I play in college and have a high swing speed (around 138 avg with driver) I've been playing xv for over a year because they fly better with my longer clubs than any other ball. I just recently hit the tp5x and got way better numbers in spin, trajectory, flight, and distance. As an avid srixon disciple ( z945 and f65) and my recent success with z star xv I'm apprehensive to switch. What improvements can I expect in the new model that will complement my swing speed in comparison to tp5x?

I have battled a slice, and therefore avoided any balls that advertised "more spin".

I found the Srixon Soft Feel ball to be straight off the tee.

With lessons and new driver with draw bias I have better control of my drives and I have upgraded to the

Srixon Qstar. Though an occasional bad swing will still go right on me I feel I am able to shape approach shots better with the Qstar.

My question is what advantage will a Z-Star or Z-Star XZ provide someone like me?

We have all heard about the "Spinskin", although I do not know exactly what makes it better than another brand. I'm not saying it isn't better, I just want to know why its better than other balls? Also, what advancements have been done to improve the durability of the golf ball? Lastly, are the compressions of the golf balls listed on the box? I have noticed most companies moved away from listing the compression.

Thanks,

P.S. you guys have great products. Big supporter of the brand and love to watch these sink in the ponds.

Currently play the Srixon Z-Stars they are awesome. What is going to be the biggest difference switching to the new generation? Also, I saw there is going to be a Q-Star tour with a urethane cover. I am assuming this will be similar to Taylormade's Project A. What would be the differences playing a Z-star vs Q-star Tour? Look forward to getting this answered and possibly a replay of video or text script of the answers if live event cannot be attended.

Thanks so much!

I've played the earlier evolutions of the Srixon Z series balls but not the Z-STAR for the past few years. I currently fluctuate between the tour models and the amateur or lower swing speed versions from different manufacturers and never fully understand how to select the best choice for me. This spring, I am looking to actually test out different balls to choose a new ball and then begin to use that model consistently. How do you recommend testing different ball models to select the best for my game? Obviously, there is a lot of disagreement among the other major manufacturers about the best method to do this (tee to green, green to tee, inside 150 yards, etc).

Thanks for the QA session. I switched to the XV after , ball fitting last summer. Always played provx until then. Performance an price point huge for me. Tell me about the layers and different compositions used in the ball and how each contributes to distance, spin rates, and feel.

Honestly, Srixon is the first ball I actually paid for. I win a lot of sleeves in my leagues (mostly Titleist). I end up selling them to buy Srixons.

Thanks for this opportunity!

I place FEEL as a priority mostly because Im guessing manufacture rules have most premium balls performing pretty close to most others. Feel off the Driver to the Putter! Next I would look for LOW SPIN off the driver, higher on irons approach on in, MAX DISTANCE, and DURABILITY! What is your fit for this wish list?

Thank you

TC

Hello,

I have a driver swing speed between 107-115 but also suffer from too much spin on drives. I also tend to over play a draw with my irons, which ball would you recommend?

Thanks
