September Trip to Denver area

I'm heading into Denver in September for a week and heading to Boulder to watch UW trounce CU. If there were two courses that are must play courses (that I can actually get on! No Cherry Hills). What would I have to play? I like the idea of City Park in Denver because of the views, but the course itself seems plain. Arrowhead looked really intriguing, as did Colorado National. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

If you want something unique (albeit quirky), then I would probably recommend Fossil Trace and Arrowhead.

 

The front 9 at Fossil Trace is sort of meh; the back 9 is scenic and gimmicky. Arrowhead is scenic, short, and not very challenging (unless you want to try to drive a par 4 over a massive rock).

 

The Ridge at Castle Pines North is a solid, scenic course, but it's really far away from Boulder.

 

If you want a nice view of the front range, then I would probably suggest Fox Hollow.

I would avoid Park Hill. Very basic Denver muni.

 

For views and a memorable rounds.

Probably in that order. All are a bit of a drive from boulder.

+1 for Bear Dance and the rest in that order. Play them each fall and look forward to the return trips. Colorado National was very blah to our group.

As a Buff fan and Boulder native.... after your comment above...my suggestion is that you play at Haystack and Stoney Creek.

As far as serious suggestions go, Fossil Trace and Fox Hollow would be a couple good choices, not terribly far from Boulder and fairly fun. I am a fan of Heritage at Westmoor (soon to be Walnut Creek), and the 27 holes at Omni Interlocken are pretty good (but a little spendy).

Personally if I had a friend coming into town and wanted to play 2 courses, I'd go Riverdale Dunes and Green Valley Ranch. Murphy Creek would be on the list as well.
