A-Grind Classic Driver 350CC

Recommended Posts

Hi all...

Looking for feedback: good/bad/indifferent.

Someone here recently referenced this driver in a thread. I looked into the basics available online and I'm kinda intrigued.

I always have enjoyed smaller headed drivers. But the last one I really liked, that I thought could be a gamer was the Yonex EZ-One 380. I came close to pulling the trigger on one a couple weeks back, but I'm hesitant that I would want something newer. The EZ-One 380 was 2009/2010. The A-Grind Classic is what? 2015?

My only complaint from the outside looking in is at 59.5°, it's a bit upright.

Thanks, y'all.

I have the 10.5 with Diamana Ilima 80x tipped 1" @43.25 W/10grams added to the head. It is my backup to the Y-Proto at 44.25. It is low launching even with a high launch shaft FOR ME. It just wants to go straight. SOOO much fun to hit. I've touched 280 with it but it's usually around 240-250. My swing speed is around 100-110 depending on how mg left shoulder and back feel. I don't like big headed driver's, it's the perfect size. Great feel and sound, when you hit on the screws u know it.

TSG sold out, Rakuten sells them shafted on a range from $700-$900 depending on the shaft and like $480 as head only.

I've toyed with the idea. Due to the price, a lot more can be had for less in regards to JDM drivers. Very good looking driver though.

If you guys go to yahoo.com.jp.au. there are two classic heads on there, that can be had for WAY CHEAPER than what I paid.

As for forgiveness, my thoughts on it its the Indian not the arrow. I started playing it at 44", cut it down to 43.25", added 10 grams to the head, now it just works for me.

Damn! That's a super deep faced 2 wood! You got a photo of that thing? Did you add hotmelt or did you lead tape it?

Can you send me direct links to the 2 auctions you mentioned.

I'm having trouble getting there. When I copy and paste the address it takes me to a Verizon search engine type page.

Not sure what the issue is.

Thank you!!

No worries. Sleep is priority!

Thanks for getting me that link.

It looks like there is only one 350cc Classic Driver left.

.... I want that auction, but I've never bid and/or bought anything through Yahoo Japan Auctions.

Sick little driver head!

I fond out about the website, after I already bought both my drivers. I've kept my eye on a few other A-Grind products. I just love the simplicity of his designs. And from searching the web on discussions about A-Grind haven't heard many negatives.

Only negative I have heard is that the CB is too small for most CB players, and damn near smaller than their first MB. The CMB's look nice, especially if one wanted to blend a set. I do like that about A-Grind, they lofted their clubs to ascend naturally from Di to MB to make a nice mixed set. Pretty reasonable as well.

Hey Frank, you mentioned you usually get 240-250 out of it, and have touched 280.

Mind if I ask where you hit some other clubs? Maybe 3 Wood? 7 Iron? 9 Iron?

Our swing speeds are similar, I'm 109-111 with Driver at 44" and I'm typically high 270's / low 280's carry with driver.

Curious how this head is going to stack up.

Like I said before my shoulder and back, dictate my swing speed and how hard I go after the ball. My 150 club is usually my 9(42°-36" nippon130x ss2x), some days it's an 8(37°-36.3" nippon 130x ss2x).

I don't carry a 3w as I carry 2 drivers and a BB mini12° adj +2 at 42.5 that is used for really tight fairways. I did just buy a cally 5 deep to help with some of the longer courses.

I have only had mine since the new year. So I'm expecting my numbers to get better as the midwest courses dry out. If there's a good wind in my face I pull the classic. No wind/wind at my back I use the y proto.

Welllllll ....

Funny you should ask.

For the first time in my career, I have confidence in every aspect of my game with the exception being off the tee. I am really, REALLY, REALLY struggling off the tee right now and have been struggling for a few months.

With all that said, I started to make major swing changes about three years ago. Completely different path, completely different release. About a year ago, aspects of the change finally began to fall in sequence. Everything but off the tee.

So, in roundabout way, to answer your question, my club builder is going to have full control on this one. He knows the length I want to play, the swingweight, and the MOI #. The shaft selection(s) we try are on him. He mentioned he wants it stiff under my hands (hahahaha, laugh it up, boys). Make(s) and Model(s) are to be determined. I'm a bit nervous, as I've never hit the A-Grind 350, hell, a month ago I had never heard of it. From everything I've read it's very low launch and spin. If my builder wants a very stiff butt section on the shaft, and the head is low launch and spin, put those together and it's gonna be shin high worm burners all day long!!!

Any suggestions?

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
