Allen Doyle... what was his game like?

Watching some of the vintage footage from the 1992 amateur   Allen has unique swing is understatement.  Anyone know if he had to flatten the putter and irons lies to accommodate that swing.   
I read through Trevino that he changed lie angle in his irons.

He plays against a round Robin of teams out of the group (best ball) which is usually a fivesome and the big group skins.

 

I would think the only thing that stops him from being in competition is his length off the tee....probably 250-260 on avg with a few bombs on the right holes...but you can count on everyone being a draw down the right side and being dead center pretty much like clockwork. One of the best wedge players I've ever seen.

Do you think it would be possible to get a WITB pic from him?? Love his journey! Always been a hero of mine since I read up on him.

He's in Florida right now. When he gets back I'll try and get one. 

Just FYI I'm thinking he has to be 73 or 74 now. Still plays from the regular men's tees and never sniffs shooting his age...always in the 66 to 70 range.

Thanks for posting. The Fields is one of my favorite places in golf. It kind of has that Goat Hill vibe. And having Allen Doyle as a regular just adds to the atmosphere.

The Fields is great.  Been playing it 3 or 4 times a year for the past 25 years.  I've seen Doyle over at Callaway Gardens every once in a while, too.

Great thread! I’ve always been a big fan of Allen’s and followed him years ago when he played at the Northeast Amateur. Love to know what currently in his bag.
