Wow, dont like this leaderboard at all. After what Kerr did in Hawaii in that 4th round I never want to see her win again. Totally against the spirit of golf. Hopefully Inbee can win this thing.

Weren't they saying Ariya has been having a shoulder issue but she won't say which shoulder. The announcers were speculating a few weeks ago that it was the shoulder she had surgery on.

Watching Lydia swing, she just looks off. Looks like she is trying to go back to a traditional swing but that stupid A swing won't let her. The 2 tee shots I saw she just looked out of sync in multiple ways.

Maybe they should rename this tournament the Women's British Open. Lol. It's sure playing like a major, and not the chip and putt that was last year's BO. I see a lot of +4 to +6's out there. A handful of players are under par for the day, but the course is taking its toll on the rest of the field.

 

Did I imagine that I saw Michelle's caddie wearing black leggings under his shorts during the first round? Well, it least it meets the new dress code.

When was the last time the cut line was at +5? Can't recall. It looks like it was a day to tread water. A few players managed an under par round (17 out of 156), but a few big names posted even bigger numbers. Ouch.

It's yet another strange and unpredictable leaderboard. I backed Lydia for this and that was an epic mistake. I still have memories of her superb putting and wedge play but it's all sadly gone - together with the 2-ball putter she was so successful with. What a slide from grace.

 

I think the only thing you can predict these days is that someone unexpected is going to roll up and win it. Cristie or SYK or Shanshan or even Carlota would be the more "predictable" winners but who knows......

I turned away for just a minute and missed seeing how Stacy, Morgan and Jody Hyphen managed to muck up a par 5. Is there any play-by-play? Really, Stace, an 8?!?

I'm not shocked by the leaderboard actually. For starters, they rarely play in these types of conditions. Yeah, on occasion they get some windy days, but nothing like this. More important, I believe, is the real links course they're on. The LPGA players may see a links course once a year, or every other year. Last year's British Open was played on a parkland course. It's difficult to play aerial assault courses week in and week out, and transfer those skills to the links.

Good point. There are some links courses in the USA I believe, though most are inland? It's a bit of a British thing, since we have so much coastline.

 

I don't know if it's "interesting" to see golfers struggle with adverse conditions - depends on what you like watching I guess, and if you have a taste for sportspeople right up against it.

 

From what I could see, a lot of the high scores happened on the greens - a mixture of not getting irons/wedges close enough to the hole and long putts on large undulating greens with the wind blowing. A lot of putts were short, and indeed all over the place. Loads of misreads.

Dundonald can bite. Add in conditions like this week and it's a battle all right.

 

Greens are also very tricky due to being very subtle with few straight/flat putts out there, always a borrow somewhere that you didn't quite see or read properly. Good to see Carly Booth climbing the leaderboard yesterday, gives the home fans something to get excited about heading into the weekend.

 

I'm looking forward to getting my course back next week right enough, gets frustrating watching people playing it on TV, in immense condition no less.

I don't see where any of the US women on the bubble for Solheim are competing this week (Marina, Nelly, Austin) with the exception of Angela. Given that this is the next to last event that seems odd. Was there a unique qualification scheme?
