Silvies Valley Ranch?

If a course/resort is not on WRX it's like it doesn't exist :)

But there was an ad in my NCGA GHIN update email about Silvies Valley Ranch in Oregon and I didn't see any threads for it on here.

 

On first blush it looks pretty cool, but thought I'd see if anyone here knows anything about it or has been out there:

The idea of the reversible course is really intriguing. The photos look nice.

 

But If anyone thinks getting to Bandon is a pain, this location defines "Middle of Nowhere." Seems like a pretty big gamble that they would be able to get people to make that trek. I would want to be sure that there was enough variety of golf there before I would commit to several days.

 

Then again, the same thing was said about Bandon...

Ya for me it's connections via Boise or Eugene/Bend, which is quite a hike for what is 1 course/day.

When we went out to Prairie Club last year, you only have access to one course a day and playing the same track 3 times in a day is maybe not optimizing the enjoyment of a facility. They're a pricey round of golf too, up near Bandon peak-season rates.

 

Always cool to see more interesting course destinations get built though.

Agreed. And it's not like you're just outside of Vegas or someplace where there's something else to do.

 

For me, that's part of the charm of a Bandon or Streamsong or Pinehurst - you don't need to leave, because there's enough golf activities to keep you interested for three or four days.

 

Similarly, if you go to St Andrews, there's a bunch of wondrous golf, but also a lot of other cool places to go/see. Not so much in Burns, Oregon...

 

All that said, it looks pretty cool, and I do like that more places like this are coming up (Gamble Sands, Sand Valley, etc.). The remoteness is part of the draw.

Oh, I don't know about remote, it's a shorter drive there than to Bandon for me...

My ancestors came across that land in wagons. From wagons to golf carts. Looks like a fun course I'll give it a try.

Stone Creek men's group was promoting a trip out there when I played with them in February.

Just stumbled across this thread and checked out their site. Looks like a pretty unique place. Definitely interested in playing the reversible course (Craddock/Hankins), Chief Egan Par 3 course and McVeigh's Gauntlet 7 hole course with accompanying goat caddie!

 

Anyone make the trip over there to check the place out and play?

Random article on the place I found. I'm debating making a trip there to check it out but some of the lodging prices are kinda high. Greens fees look reasonable. Based on the listed website prices the packages are probably the way to go.
