816 hybrid fakes popping up everywhere

Oh boy. I saw one just like this a few days ago. Chinese listing with no history.

 

How unbelievably cheap must they be making them to sell them and ship them to the US for under $25?!?

They have been popping up in Lefty too for Vokeys, I started a thread on those also. It's a scam, real picture but they probably never actually send anything after payment.

It's not just the 816 hybrids. It is anything popular in golf clubs. They are taking legitimate photos from other seller's ads, then advertising them for cheap. They hope you buy, and then PayPal them. After getting their money, they shut down their account, and the buyer gets nothing. Notice that all of them are newly registered with zero feedback. I report the listing as fraudulent every time I run across one.

But this doesn't make sense. For new members with no history eBay puts your money in escrow until well after the product has been recieved.

 

When I first started selling on eBay it took 3 weeks to actually get paid after shipping.

 

At least if you use PayPal this is the case. Does it work differently if you use a credit card? Lord. Who would do that?

I am not sure if the people doing this actually understand how PayPal works for new users.

I am not sure if people wondering why the sellers are doing this really know what they are trying to get in the scam. If they ever got money, too, that'd be a bonus.

 

Regardless, don't buy these, people. Stop posting these and giving free advertising to a listing phishing for personal info. These listings are why PayPal and eBay fees steadily climb. It costs money when these companies have to deal with why some idiot never got that $25 brand new hybrid from China that he thought he'd "just take a chance on".
