Crump Cup at Pine Valley

Has anyone ever been to the Crump Cup at Pine Valley? l

With the Giants season off to a dreadful start, I'm thinking about going there Sunday for the first time rather than suffer through another Giants game.

 

What can you expect if you go?

Is the pro shop open to the public?

Are there concessions available?

Also, highly doubt pro shop will be open. One interesting fact about PV - they have two sets of merch logos - one for members and one for guests. Guests can not purchase the member specific gear / apparel

You don't qualify. It's by invitation only.

Was there about 5 years ago. You park in a high school lot and they bus you in. You never get close to the pro shop or any other place to buy merchandise. That said you are free to walk the course with no restrictions. Saw some good golf and a great golf course. Was well worth the day spent there.

Jeff Knox won it last year, better known as the marker for The Masters and I believe holes the course record for the member tees at Augusta. It is a great experience as you can walk the course alone or follow the main group, also with the option to follow the other groups such as seniors etc. You are basically standing next to the players if you want, the members at PV do carry rops that they hold up to give the players some room when it is time to hit.

 

The pro shop is definitely not open to the public.

 

Concessions are sold at the gate by the Clementon youth sport association I believe, they same group that organizes the buses and parking at Clementon Amusement park. Thehalfway house, etc is closed to spectators.

It was Sunday, Sept 24, 2017. It's always either 3rd or 4th w/e in Sept. Think it was delayed previously rarely.

 

Parking is @Clemington Athletic field.

There is a shuttle bus for $20 to gain entry.

 

Its a fundraiser for the town kids, Clemington Athletic Association. They always sell the concessions.

 

Tournament started @noon and there is usually a line early.

 

Play finish is after 5p to 6ish.

 

Its worth enjoying the tournament and the only way most have to ever walk or see the course.

I just played golf with a guy who played 10 straight years in the Crump Cup. He told me that once you are invited, you will continue to be invited back, until you miss the cut 2 years in a row. Once this happens, you are no longer invited back to play ever again. This guy was a competitive golfer throughout his life, and has also played in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am for 20 + years. He had played golf with all the big players throughout his life (Palmer, Nickalus, Player, Faldo, Tiger, Phil, etc.). Just listening to his stories was pretty cool. He wasn't bragging at all, I was just inquisitive, and was willing to talk about it. In his 10th year at the Crump Cup, the President of the Club walked up to him and asked if he had any interest in joining the club; he said it was straight out of a fantasy.
