Does anybody know when Ballyneal shuts down for the (golf) season?

I'm going to be in DEN late October and would love to squeeze in a couple days in the chop hills if it works out...

I was there back in the summer. I didn't think there was a real official end of golf season based on the members I spoke with. Just looking at the average temps for Holyoke it seems like the days would be warm enough but you might get frost delayed in the morning that time of year.

Have heard caddies are compulsory at Ballyneal. Is that correct? Could be an expensive couple of days if so.

I believe only for the first round for unaccompanied visitors.

I believe only for the first round for unaccompanied visitors.

I think it's the first round of each day for unaccompanied guests. So if you stay two night and play golf over three days you would be on the hook for a minimum of three caddy fees.

Edited to add: you probably want to take them out there. They make a huge amount of difference to someone that doesn't know the course.

I live in Denver and am kinda dying to get out to play Ballyneal. Is it possible as a "local" to get one without being a member or with a member? Would love to get out there and play for my birthday in July.

They follow the Sand Hills policy of allowing anyone who has never played the course to come out unaccompanied once in their life Sunday afternoon - Thursday if you're willing to pay for at least one night's stay and the tee sheet is pretty open on the days you want to come. The availability of that is reducing now that the course reached it's member cap.

Alternatively there is a 2 to 3 day charity event in May which is a better deal price wise vs. unaccompanied 2-3 days of golf since you're getting a reduced room rate, the tournament tee package/prizes and meals for free and don't have to take a caddie.

I applied about a year ago and was successful, so 4 of us are going in September. Maybe applying from Australia helped.

sand hills doesn't allow play unless sponsored by a member and is more of a random confirmation if you've written the "correct" type of request, if i've read correctly ... from what others have said on here, ballyneal does not require sponsorship and is not dependent on a "proper" request ... someone correct me if i'm wrong ...
