Looking for flow neck mid mallet recommendation ...

Want to do some long term testing with a reasonably priced flow neck mallet, before I go all in on a new one.

 

 

I've putted with a 1/2 shaft offset flow neck blade for my entire career. I put well out to about 10-12 feet, but recently feel like I am all of a sudden below average after that.

 

 

Possibly something like a Justin Thomas custom flow neck SC Futura.

 

Why does it seem like the flow neck mid mallet is such a niche market? The physics behind it appear sound, yet there is a surprising dearth of options available to the average golfer. (when I say average, I mean golfers not willing to drop $600-$4000 on a putter)

 

 

Any recommendations? Taylormade Mullen and Bettinardi Queen Bee 9 are on the short list.

I don't know if there is one 1/10th of the price of JT's Scotty but a few flow neck mallets come to mind.

Firstly, there is the Spider Tour which may be out of your price range.

There is then the new TP Red collection. I believe there are 3 flow neck mallets in that range. There is also the TP Mullen mid mallet that came at start of the year that may be what you're looking for.

A PING Sigma G Tyne H was also just realeased that is a little cheaper than the TP putters. Plus there are the Odyssey O-Works 7s available in black and red.

I recently converted a mallet putter that had 90* hosel to a flow neck by using Golfworks' neck. Cleveland #6 is a pretty nice head in my opinion for how much it costs so the whole experiment should cost less than $150, everything brand new.

Various odyssey #7's come with flow necks and so does the Sabertooth I believe. My old Ping Ketsch TR was a flow neck, and I'm pretty sure the Wolverine is, too. I'm sure there are more but those come to mind.

Ugly, but this is what I tried as my first flow neck mallet. Like you I wasn't sure I'd like it, so I wanted to try before dumping money into one. It didn't take long for me to figure out that it works well for me. And it wasn't because I felt like I needed to like it after dumping a wad of cash.

Piretti Matera 2.0 flow neck, a little more like a wide blade but at 375 gr has the stability of a mallet. I love mine.
