Trakman probably told skypro to stuff it when they refused to renegotiate their cut of the JNPG subscription fee.

If that was the case, I doubt they would have allowed existing users to continue their subscriptions.

PR problems if they cutoff current subscribers for both Skytrak and Trackman. Just my opinion.

It's all just speculation anyways :-)

But I doubt TM is worried about PR from Skytrack owners.

Bad PR on both sides. People buying skytrak and losing options they were told they would have. TM takes a bit of heat, but nothing like skytrak does. I would guess Skytrak gave up revenue, not TM

I have heard that is probably the biggest benefit of launch monitors.

At my home course as a kid I got up super early one day just so I could practice on the course before everyone, lining up balls in increments of 5 inside 100 yards. Couldn't think of any other way to get my distances down. One of the workers saw it, drove up, and was like yea, that's not going to fly. Younger me would have LOVED a Skytrak.

I always bitched at the lack of 10 20 30 40 50 yard markers at our local driving ranges. I used to line up baskets when the range is empty. Now I just do it all using my Sky Trak. Usually I spend an hour just hitting wedges. 10 to 100 yards till I hated it.

Those types of short shots are IMO where there is the biggest difference in ballflight depending on the ball you are playing, which makes it really difficult to ever get very precise hitting beat up range balls that don't spin, even if you manage to find good targets to aim at. Better than nothing of course, but launch monitors just make it SO much better in so many ways.

Any of you using skytrak outdoors? I am struggling to find room inside or in garage, but have space in our back yard. Even thought a little about building a separate, bare-bones room but that sounds like a major project.

Should work on a mat as long as lighting is decent. Off turf it's very hit or miss since the unit seems not to be great at differentiating between flying balls and grass, so you get a lot more no reads and some weird data.

It has some issues in direct sunlight, but shouldn't be hard to find a workaround. I would hit off a mat and not a net and than you don't have to keep moving it as you take a divot.

Heater is in, net's up, canvas hit-screen just installed, all that's left is the projector mount. Garage is a sh!t sty, but priorities first!

SkyTrak is good, not for a pro, but for anyone on here with nothing starting out, it's perfect. If you are semi-tool oriented and can fashion your own net/screen, one can be fully made for 3500. SkyTrak, Projector, Computer, Mat, Net Complex with Screen. Additional for Sim software and subscriptions.

I have a simulator at work and use it frequently by myself to practice and play practice rounds.  I also play all winter with my golf league buddies.  We play the same night.  As we say league never ends.  Being at work is awesome, cigars, beer and heckling is encouraged.

I have Foresight GC2 with HMT so a lot of information can be gathered from mine.  It absolutely helps me get better.  The golf is obviously not as good as playing outside but it is the best time you are going to have involving golf in February in Michigan.

Last year I built a simulator in my 18x13 home theater room. For those of you considering building one this is the absolute minimum dimensions if you want to swing a 45.5" driver (I am 6'0"). 10 foot ceiling is the minimum...i have 12 foot ceilings. It cost me $12,419 to build out. Here is the breakdown:

  • Uneekor Launch Monitor: $7000 for the upgraded version. I installed it to the ceiling. You have to hit balls with dots on them. Actually measures (not calculates) spin, speed, launch angle, etc....
  • 5x4 Fiberbuilt Mat with 1x4 nylon hitting area: $700. Highly recommend unless you want your elbow to explode after 1000 shots. I've hit every day for a year and no wrist or elbow issues.
  • Impact Screen (8x10.5x5) frame and 10'1"x7'7" impact screen: $1114.95. Got off of Amazon and had to assemble myself.
    • Electrical Metal Conduit: $120. Have to buy this in order to construct the frame for the Impact Screen. You have to cut the pipe yourself but you are given measurements.
  • BenQ Projector (MW632ST) Short Throw: $529. Mounted it to the ceiling.
    • Ceiling Mount: $75
  • Dell PC (NVIDIA 2060 6GB w 16GB Memory: $1013. Need minimum video requirements.
  • TGG 2019 (The Golf Club): $918. Hundreds of golf courses including Pebble and Augusta.

I overused this the first 3 months and actually ruined my swing. I went from a 7hdc to an 11hdc. You have to be really careful trying to interpret all of the numbers that this system provides. I was chasing numbers and I got really lost. I took a month off in April after injuring my back (non golf related) and when I started playing again I focused down the information and instead of just pounding 500 balls per day I started practicing with purpose and I'm currently down to a 6hdc. It's a ton of fun playing courses and it does give very realistic feedback when in range mode.
