Srixon/Cleveland RTX 4 wedges - 2018

Recommended Posts

I played Cleveland wedges from my high school golf days all the way to my late 20’s before moving on to Nike and Vokey’s and never could quite feel as confident as I was with my old 588’s. It’s been a journey. The RTX 4.0’s have brought me back home to Cleveland. I originally picked up a 54 mid and 58 low in the tour raw finish, these wedges to my eye look incredible. After several rounds I realized I needed more bounce in the 58 and traded the low in for a 58mid. I wanted to be able to use the low bounce 58 for the versatility it provided but I have the tendency to get a little steep when I’m not swinging well and the 58mid covers my sins on those swings. Wedge grinds are all about your swing type, steep, neutral or shallow..this lineup has something for every type of swing.

i finally had a chance to hit these albeit indoors on a sim. I will need to try them more extensively, BUT they felt solid and very soft. I am excited about them

It is winter so really just practicing when and where I can, but the Cleveland RTX4 continues to impress. If you did not care for the RTX3 but did like the earlier Rotex 2.0 588 wedges — that is where I stood — then you likely will be impressed by the new ones. Cleveland got back to their fundamentals in this lineup, but added options and versatility. Really liking the 58 low.

For those who have a low bounce 60, how do you like them on full shots. I use my 60 on full swings a decent amount and have always gone two dot but it would be nice to be able to go 56/2 dot and 60 low

Do not have a 60 but do have a 58 low and I like it on all shots. No real difference on full shots between this wedge and others. The sole is quite versatile. The big difference is on gentle pitches close to the green. Off tight lies or out of deep grass, it is nimble and precise.

I ordered this 58* Low (bent to 57* and taking a degree off the already low bounce).the minute it was available and I've been very happy with it though I haven't played enough with it to dial it in yet. I sure like the turf interaction though...so far. The thing cuts through our bent turf like a hot knife through butter and feels like that same butter. I opted for a Tour Issue DG S400 Onyx and it's working well with it.

No actual rounds yet but after a couple practice sessions I feel very optimistic. I chose the 54/10 MID but went with the 58/9 FULL mainly for bunkers shots. After hitting bunker shots with both I'm pleased that I did as the V Sole didn't seem to perform great out of the sand. That aside, I like the V Sole a lot though.

This maybe the best off the rack wedge offering I've ever seen. Unless there is something about the grinds that you just hate, there is virtually nothing to dislike about these wedges.
