Just wondering--Is anyone else getting a lot of glare off the satin finish wedges on sunny days? Specifically off the 60 and 56, 52 seems ok. I've had similar finish wedges in the past but they never glared this bad.

Interesting... I did notice in the store today that the satin black wasn't quite as dark as the Vokey black and did seem to have a little more shine to it... I would have gone satin black in the RTX4 but they didnt have a low bounce 56 or 58 on the shelf so I went Tour Chrome 50.10/56.8. These do look so much better than the RTX3s. I'll see how they do outside tomorrow as I have been playing high bounce Vokeys for the last year or so.

I'm with ya - love the wedges but the glare of the AZ sun is definitely coming off my 60 satin.

If only there was a finish that people typically pay more to get because of this ... if only there was an option ...

Had these out for the first round today... man, I am impressed. They feel great and seem to be easy to hit consistent distances. Getting used to the 56 low bounce, but it was a great tool to have today. Saved my a** a few times. Glad I picked up a set!

Held these wedges in my hands today and they are very nice. Suits my eye for sure. Look friendly.

So I’ve been in the camp of “bounce is your friend.” Almost every instruction article you see preaches that, as do Bob Vokey and Roger Cleveland. And then I am reading GOLF mag article on wedge tips by Ernie Els. Love Ernie. He was touting RTX4 wedges with mid grind and 6 degrees of bounce as his standard, even from bunkers, and said on firm courses he uses same grind with 3 degrees of bounce.

I know soles can make clubs play like they have more or less bounce than the stated number. I really want a wedge for pitches from closely mown areaa around greens. I seem to struggle with this shot with higher bounce wedges. The RTX4 low grind sits so close to the ground with its leading edge it looks perfect. How are guys finding these wedges perform off tight lies? Is low bounce worth a try?

Have taken short game lessons and my pitching and chipping technique is so much better in terms of consistent contact. I want to dial in that short pitch in which I have to clip the ball off tight turf over an obstacle, making the bump and run not possible. And I have to say, the shape of the RTX4 looks just right. Try the 58 or 60 with lower bounce and it is still pretty playable? Or am I headed for Dig City?

You'd be surprised how high the 'actual bounce' is on those 'effective low bounce' wedges. Ultimately you'll have find what works best for you and your swing.

QUESTION - anyone know the head weight difference between RTX4 and RTX3

want to build similar swingweight, etc and wondering if anyone had the data

please

appreciated

anyone on this one?

thanks

Have you emailed Cleveland?

Never considered that, but why wouldn't I?

Thought for sure someone here would have scaled them and more by now

thanks!

I own the rtx 3 in 52 54 and 60. Just wondering if there is a big difference between these and the rtx 4 in turf interaction for full swings. Sounds like the 4 is more versatile, but not sure whether to just replace my 60 rtx 3 low with a 4 low or xlow or replacing the mid 52 and 56 as well. Also would love to see some side by side pics.

I can’t say enough about the the 58 low. I’ve had some unbelievable up and downs with it. I highly recommend giving these a try if you’re in the wedge market .

  • 1 month later...

I tried rtx 4 52* and 58* at a local store today. Compared them side to side with Vokey SM7 with same loft... Winner is RTX 4... Has better feel (soft) to it and really like the heavier feeling. Pricing is much better along with higher spin rate. Will probably get them on boxing day sale in a few days!

So much love for vokeys on here. I have played them exclusively for past 15 years. With that said the new rtx4 wedge is awesome with ti dgs400 shafts. I put for in the bag for this upcoming season. They don’t seem to warrant a lot of attention from many but this model Cleveland finally got it right. Personally, I did medium bounce in all but 60 degree and went low bounce.

Higher bounce is typically better out of sand unless it’s hard sand. The low bounce is better for opening up club face. The low bounce was more versatile than the m grind for me. I use my 56 mid bounce for bunkers.

I ordered a 56 low raw and it immediately kicked my vokey SM6 out of the bag. The sm6 was fine for full shots but was terrible for chipping or finesse and had no check.

The RTX4 spins like crazy and i can hit all sorts of shots with the low grind. Best of all, it doesnt want to dig. I have a 58low (bent to 60) on its way from cleveland to test out as well. It will be tough to unseat the Glide 2.0TS i just picked up though. That thing is like cheating.

Our Pro has just ordered a couple with Modus 120 stiff flex. He has a smooth tempo so the S400 was never going to suit him.

Wait what?

Yeah, not sure I get that as a criticism of the S400. The S400 in wedges works great with any tempo. Perfect for pitches. Nothing wrong with the Modus except it will balloon into the wind but for full swing wedges and pitches, I’d take the S400. The Modus 120 stiff is a 114g shaft and I like a heavier wedge build. s400 is 132 grams and makes a big difference.

Not sure I like the shorter hosel and way this sits vs the RTX-3 on the 60 for pitching and chipping

or the shape difference

Feels like the head delivers differently into the ball

anyone else moving from rtx-3 to rtx-4 have any issues??

thanks

I bought the rtx3 and got rid of them after 9 holes. I absolutely hated everything about them. My fault for buying them sight unseen, but I hated the shape, the feel, the way they looked behind the ball at address just pissed me off...everything.

Wasn't going to pick up the rtx4 if it wasn't for the partner deal they had, figured I would probably flip them. I love everything about them and haven't even looked at another wedge. I find the look and feel to be perfect, and the playability of the line is second to none.

This is all just my opinion though :)
