I was thinking of playing LB in the afternoon today.

I played Saturday morning too. It was stupid out there. We were second group off as a fivesome.

The first hole is usually driver, 4-iron, wedge for me. Saturday it was Driver, 4W, 4Iron and I hit them all pretty good.

Second hole is a dog leg left with carry over water and the wind was just howling from the right. I stated a drive at the 200 yard marker, put a little draw spin on it, and it went out and hit the fairway going straight down it, leaving me about 150 to the middle.

Greens were fast and firm. We had some funny holes. The par 5 9th. . .my partner hit one into the hazard. I was in the hazard, but ball was sitting in some dead grass. I punched a 6 iron onto the first hole, had 175 to the flag, and had a flyer lie and hit 9 iron onto the green. My par won the hole and that was after 3 guys hit perfect drives. Q had like 160 into the green and made double.

One other hole, I pured a 9 iron and it went about 85 yards. So, I basically had 90 yards difference between two different 9 iron shots.

Book Talk Monday :

I know some guys here are NK Jemisin fans. She has part 1 of a new series dropping end of March and she's doing a book tour and she's going to be in DC two consecutive nights.

She wrote a Green Lantern series for DC that started in December and is now 4 issues in. It's pretty good. The Green Lantern in it looks like Janelle Monae. She goes to this planet populated by three races who all take medication to keep their emotions in check to keep the peace. But, the peace has been broken.

+1 on the Target All in Motion Golf ABC pants. Way better fitting on these than the Old Navy knockoffs. A little more Spandexy feel to them in the seat area, which helps show off my assets. 4 colors at the Target I stopped at but 7 colors online, all $40. Took an old SG15 iron set, a G15 driver and XR driver, and two very old hybrids. Was offered $268 and took it- picked up a G410 driver I was hitting well in the simulator.

Also would've lost a bet- I had a side bet with the daughter we would see someone with a N95 mask on in the mall, but we did not. There was ONE person in Trader Joe's that did though. I agreed that she still won so I had to buy something for her at TJ, and she chose a 4 pack of Chipwich Ice Cream sandwiches. She did give me one, so it was a Win-Win.

2ndSwing Pricing:

I continue to advocate checking Ebay while at the store before falling in love with a club there. While its fantastic you can hold the club in your hands, if you're not watching they can get you. I rolled a few putters that I liked while waiting for them to tally the equipment- and while I thought $268 was a good deal for what I brought in, the pricing for the high end used putters was excessive. I rolled a PXG Bat Attack that was priced at $329, and and Edel Brick for $309. Both minty fresh- but when I checked Ebay, the going rate for the Bat Attack was around $170 and the Edel Brick hovered around $140. I had never held an Edel Brick before and was surprised to see the head so forward of the shaft- its really offset forwards. The G410 was priced at $263.99 which I thought was fair value vs the Ebay numbers I was seeing. Domes' Evnroll ER2 was there in a 33" model that hovered around $290- again higher than the Bay. But what a great feeling putter.

Long-time lurker here from Silver Spring. Played 9 at Sligo yesterday and it's in good shape but wow they cleared a lot of trees. I found all my wayward tee shots due to the long grass being hacked down, so that was nice.

Definitely for putters. For drivers and maybe other woods too though IMO it depends on the price difference. If you find a club you like thats performing well in the simulator and its comparing favorably to your gamer in the same simulator - buy the one that you have in hand. With tolerances being what they are, who knows what the "10.5*" driver is actually spec'ing out at - to say nothing of the "stiff flex" shaft. If its a small enough difference I wouldn't bother.

I've said this before, but I've always thought the second swing prices were like, "Yeah, I could do better both ways on eBay, but it doesn't TOTALLY suck and I'm already here, so. . ."

I was supposed to be at a vendor meeting next to the 2nd swing tomorrow and had compiled a collection of clubs to trade in after we finished but the meeting got canceled as the partner we were meeting with is not able to travel from ATL due to Coronavirus. Talk about the hardships of this global pandemic. Now I'm stuck with all these clubs that I don't use when I planned to trade them in for maybe one or two clubs I would use this weekend.

You know they're not wiping down those clubs between people hitting them at 2nd Swing.

The only thing you can do is not put the golf grips in your mouth when trying out a club. I know there's no way to really know if the club is right for you if you don't taste the grip, but we all need to make sacrifices right now.

Greens are FIRE at LB this am. Already have 3 3jackeroos in 10 holes. Playing two balls. The group I was supposed to play with never showed.

The Lamkin Gripes are excellent, theres enough cleaner on one wipe to clean a whole set.
