Chattanooga Private Membership Options

Cleveland country club seems like it would be a good option. Anyone know what the membership is like there, demographics? I'm younger (32), middle class, causal/semi-serious golfer with a handicap that ranges from 10-12.

CCC is a pretty active club. Lots of different games to get into from your daily choose ups, to your more limited bigger money games. Lots of tournaments, two-ball for couples, and kids camps in the summer. Age groups are pretty wide also. There are lots of guys in early 30s to 50s. Handicaps range from lots of really god scratch players into the 20s or higher. But there are a lot of guys in your age group and handicap.

The best way to meet a lot of folks out there would be playing in the choose up on weekend and in tournaments. Some of the side bets can get out of hand if you let it in the choose up. So be careful.

Also, if your patient, they often run membership drives where they waive the initiation fee. Right now that would be $4,500.

If you need a realtor, send me a message and I'll give you the best in town. He's also a member there and can give you more info.

Walter: Tell me Bobby, why do you play this game?
Bobby: I play because I love it.
Walter: Well I play for the money. I have to win. That is why every time we face each other I will always beat you.

They really should update their website if that's what their initiation fee is. Are the dues listed on the site accurate at all?

That's gone down quite a bit since just last summer. I had inquired then, and that's what I was told in an email. Must be trying to get some new members during the winter.

Just talk to Nicole that is listed on that membership page. She will give you any information you need and will give you a tour of the place.

OP, I've been a member at Council Fire for almost 5 years. To me, its the best golf course in town with the exception of The Honors. Our maintence if always top notch, greens are always in fantastic shape and rolling fast. I like Black Creek and CGCC as well but Council Fire was a better fit for me, less of a social scene and more about golf. We have two main groups that play two different games, both are fun and you can meet a lot of people. If you'd like to send me a PM , feel free and I'd be willing to help you out as much as I can. Also, its probably only a 20 minute drive from McDonald.

Not sure if anyone is still around in this thread, but I was wondering is anyone had a comparison between private golf clubs in Chattanooga and Cashiers? Currently splitting time in Naples and Chicago, but thinking about cutting out Chicago and calling one of these cities home for a few months out of the year. A true players club is a must to buy a place in either town. Making trips up later this year to visit, but curious ahead of time as well. Looks like wade hampton and honors course are the best clubs in each town respectively.

thanks

The clubs you're thinking of are invitation only so you'll need to work any connections you have to get a look.

FWIW The Honors is closed during the winter months. I'm sure that's the time of year you'd rather play in Naples anyway.

Cashiers is a resort town while Chattanooga is a real midsized city. We have mountains around Chattanooga but nothing like the Appalachian foothills over in Western N.C. You could expect a slightly cooler climate in the N.C. mountains during the peak summer months just based on the elevation and breezier afternoons.

Good point.  It’s definitely cooler up there.  I played Mountain Top in middle of summer and it was perfect.  Way less humidity.

The Honors is by invite only and is currently $100k+ for initiations. Caddy’s must be taken with each round, by far the best course in Tennessee. Recently redone about 2 years ago.
other options in or near Chattanooga are Chattanooga Golf and Country Club (long wait list), Council Fire Club (IMO best course, golfers and gamblin but I’m biased), Black Creek and Mclemore (opening a 2nd 18 in a year or so, also $50k ish buy in).

feel free to dm me and I can give you more details if you’d like. Also I have a buddy that currently lives in cashiers that has a pretty good pulse on the golf scene there.
