Bandon lunch options

I’m about 40 days out (wooo hooo!) from our group trip (16 of us!) to Bandon (Nov 7-11). As such, I’ve been reading (on, re-reading) every thread on Bandon out there to pass the rest of the time. While there are a lot of great food advice, I have a specific question that I don’t know I’ve seen addressed.

 

We are playing Old Mac Thursday, Trails followed by the Preserve Friday, BD Saturday, and closing out with PD Sunday. To accommodate the group being able to tee off in consecutive tee times, we were fairly limited on what was available. In short, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday our first tee times are between 10:30 and 11. On Friday the tee time at Trails is early (first tee time is at 8AM), but the follow up round at Preserve (first tee time at 1PM) won’t leave much downtime.

 

In short, that means for most days typical lunchtime will be right in the middle of the round. With that said, what type of recommendations do you guys have for food (particularly lunch). Are their options at halfway houses or making the turn on all the courses? What about the day we have the short window between Trails and Preserve.

 

I’m thinking most of the group will do a later breakfast and any lunch will be light anyway. Just looking for some advice from those that have been there with what you would do!

Halfways houses are available with plenty of inventory.

 

Also, an option is you can have them make you box lunches ready at the turn. This is a great option for larger groups....we have done this in the past and it is an excellent sandwich, fruit and snack.

 

These days we have bought lunch and snack items in advance (Coos/NB) and just pack our own. Much easier and less expensive.

There's a small restaurant at the Trails/Preserve shop that you can order food at. I thought it would be quicker than it was though considering the location. Skip the chili...

 

Both Trails and the Preserve have halfway houses you can hit up for food. I only got snacks so I cannot say if they had sandwiches or hot dogs or anything.

There are options mid round at all the courses. On Trails the halfway house is easy to get to after #7 and #10. Bandon comes back to the lodge after 9, sandwich’s and things are available. Pacific has a snack shack in a bunker (concrete, not sand) that is convenient to get to after 3 and 12. Old Mac has a bunker accessible after 7 and 15. The views from the Old Mac one are really cool.

I recommend the chili at the Pac dunes halfway house....it's pretty darn delicious. But all of the snack shacks are solid food-wise and I wouldn't say they are over priced. About what you would expect price wise if not less. What is overpriced in my opinion is the food/dinner in the restaurants. Everything else such as snack bar or pro shop actually wasn't too bad.

Get the bratwurst at the snack stands.
